Over the past 20 years The Crown has swung between one of the best places to eat and a choice of microwaved frozen meals. With new owners and a new menu we visited The Crown with high hopes of a return to the days when it was the place to eat. The location by the green on a warm Spring evening was as perfect as anywhere. The soup came and the evening promised well. The main courses were mixed. The pasta dish was certainly a hit but the rib eye steak on the bone was distinctly average. We all chose different sweets to share, and although we enjoyed them we didn't find one to recommend. The Crown is worth travelling to for a pleasant evening but the food needs that extra something which makes you long to return.
