We called into this country pub for lunch on our way home after a shopping trip in Tunbridge Wells. The pub is in a relatively quiet but attractive rural setting. We were served at the bar immediately on arrival by a very friendly and helpful member of staff. My wife had ham egg and chips for lunch. All the meat served at this pub is sourced from Renhurst Farm which is nearby and from which, coincidentally, we buy all our own meat. The eggs probably came from there too. My wife is not a big eater, but she thoroughly enjoyed her food. The chips were perfect. I wanted the breaded whitebait from the specials board. Although this was advertised as a starter, the staff obligingly doubled the quantities to make it a good-sized serving. The fish were delightful and easily compared with some of the best whitebait I have ever had. I was told that all fish was delivered fresh daily. The price of the food was about what we would normally expect to pay for lunch, but the quality of all of it was exceptionally high. So, very good value. We would certainly return and we have already recommended it to others.
