“Really nice stay - huge room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Not a golfer but booked a room here as most other places around Hastings and Rye seemed to be booked. This was a great find, friendly and helpful staff and huge and very clean rooms.

Breakfast was really nice, dinner was good, starters were so-so but mains were very tasty.

I think this place probably suffers because people think they have to be a golfer to stay there - you don't. No one once uttered the word golf to me, good thing too.

Very minor points - TV reception was not great, no BBC channnels, and my missus couldn't do her hair in the mirror, as it was too far away from plug sockets. Obviously designed by a guy :o)

Sedlescombe Golf Club is simply a wonderful place in which to learn the game. The professionals are top notch and the course is excellently maintained.
The Golf Lodge is certainly comfortable, always clean and obviously well maintained. The White Company toiletries AND complimentary tea and coffee is a nice touch.
Last and by no means least are the bar and restaurant, which never fail to impress. Breakfasts are a treat (the all day breakfast is a firm favourite of mine). The bar menu for lunch is extensive (try the club sandwich - go on, you know you want to!) and dinner is always fresh and tasty.

The staff at Sedlescombe create a uniquely relaxed atmosphere. Their service is first rate and everyone is so friendly. If I could move in I would do so (hopefully my game would improve too!)

S M Junior - visited June 2012 (6th time and counting).

We picked the location to be near Sedlescombe village to attend a family celebration. Otherwise it's not particularly near anywhere but that won't worry you if you go there to play golf (which we didn't) or spend a few nights just relaxing in the countryside.

We walked round the golf course and it looked very pleasant. They also have a driving range and the staff in the pro shop were very friendly. In fact, the staff throughout were all very friendly and went out of their way to help. We arrived about midnight and the staff normally leave about 11pm when the bar closes but we sent an email in advance and they waited for us without problem.

The restaurant was pleasant, in a relaxed setting with prompt service and good food (we had breakfast included and also had dinner there one night). The bar and restaurant are in the golf club house, while the rooms are in a separate building a short (100m) walk across the car park. This building has less people coming and going than the club house so it was nice and quiet. Our room had a good view over the golf course, was very spacious and nicely furnished (though no fridge, which would have been a nice addition).

After booking a Winetasting experience at the Carr Taylor Vineyard as a present for my girlfriends parents, we decided to make a weekend of it and stay over. Having worked on the construction of the Sedlescombe Golf Hotel in the early days of my career, it was a perfect opportunity to experience some of my work.

The bedrooms are lovely, nice double beds with tv and air conditioning and the bathrooms are lovely with a large bathtub and his and hers basins. The only thing I would say that there in now shower in the room we stayed in.

The food for lunch and breakfast was lovely. We were advised whilst having a drink at the bar that the room included a round on the 9 hole par three course, had we have known this prior to arrival the father-in-law and I would have taken our clubs.

Overall a lovely hotel which for the price is a much better option than the chain hotels.

Just back from three half days golf tuition.

Have gone from complete novice to having the confidence to actually play.

Our instructor, Tim, was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Hotel was perfect. It's located away from the main clubhouse and is therefore quiet and private.

The rooms are large and well furnished with comfortable large bed.

Whilst we only had breakfast in the restaurant (which was excellent) the menus for lunch and dinner looked really good. One morning we were even asked if we wanted to request any particular variety of fish for dinner that evening.

We would thoroughly recommend both the Golf School and the hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked good however you can pay extra for rooms facing the 9th hole.

I have used the James Andrews Golf school for 3 years and always had a great time.
Each year we book the same weekend and it all works out lovely.... except this year.
We arrived Friday morning and it was bitterly cold. By 2pm our coach advised us that there was a high possibility of a snow dump coming and the management had advised us that if we wanted to go home rather than get stuck they would honour our second day. So far so great.
That morning we had paid the deposit for staying at the hotel they have - apparently the offer of honouring the golf did not extend to the overnight stay.
So after much discussion they ripped us off and lost a lifetime customer.
Seems very short sighted Dave.

We found this place by accident on Lateroom.com. What a find. Friendly and helpful staff and a really lovely room. So different from all the chain hotels. So pleased we stayed on for an extra night.
