First visited, pre Christmas on a busy Sunday as a party of 7, was a big success, all had roast dinners, all arrived piping hot and plates went back empty. Very busy so bar service was not easy as many locals having a Sunday pint and sat round bar as tables used by diners. The local Harveys Sussex beer was good and both mains and puddings good quality. Pleasantly surprised by the bill which was very reasonable for 7 lunches @ puddings.
Visited again today on quieter Wednesday for lunch, arrived a little later than planned at 1.45pm (stop serving lunch at 2pm). No problem and received pleasant greeting/service. We had 3 fish lunches (2 pan fried Skate and one cod & chips).
Cod and chips was good portion crispy batter and chips - Skate portions a little small but excellently cooked and tender tasty fish. Again the beer was good.
It is what it is - a local family run pub serving good beer and reasonably priced food that in our limited experience is prepared by a good kitchen team to an above average standard for pub grub. Will visit again and would happily recommend.
