“Nice..... But......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We stayed at Crowhurst Park last weekend as a family get together, to spend time together and to loosely celebrate a couple of birthdays.

There were 10 of us (7 adults and 3 children) and we had 3 lodges: a Minisota, Ontario & Colorado. The Colorado was very superior and very lovely. Unfortunately it was not my lodge!

We enjoyed the swimming pool area and for the adults the Steam and Sauna. The 2 older children were old enough for the Jacuzzi. The staff in the leisure area were very friendly and pleasant.

We were not planning to self cater main meals but were forced to on the Saturday night. We wanted an evening meal at around 5.30pm at the Manor House and the website indicated the menu plus opening times (plus the info in our lodges), but due to a wedding they could not guarantee what time our food would arrive as the wedding meal would take priority due to timings so it was possible that we would not get our meals till just before 7pm. This was a big disappointment and very unhelpful and not practical as one of our party was 4 years old and unfair to make him wait that long when it would have been virtually his bedtime. We ended up cooking ourselves as any restaurants in Battle could not either cater for the 10 of us or provide children or vegetarian meals (5 of our party were vegetarian and 3 of those children). I personally was not impressed with the oven in our lodge. It certainly didn’t heat up to the temperature it was supposed to so I was actually pretty cross. In hindsight maybe we should have booked ahead then we would have known and could have arranged a booking elsewhere.

We were able to eat at the Manor house for Sunday lunch. This was not bad. Not much choice for the veggies in our group – and especially the veggie children. Seems like the menu they advertise in the rooms and on the website is much slimmer on a Sunday but it is not clear until you see what is on offer on the Sunday menu. The lady who was serving us (long hair) was very polite and friendly especially with the children.

To sum up, we had an enjoyable stay mainly as the lodge was satisfactory and the swimming pool really was the highlight for us. The fireworks from the wedding were really lovely so did take away the bitter taste from our Saturday night disappointment.

I feel that if Crowhurst Park is going to cater for weddings then they need to build an additional restaurant/function room which also has a kitchen, so the ‘normal’ paying guests are not inconvenienced at all. The facilities are listed and advertised but they don’t state that it does not apply if there is a wedding! The Manor House can cope with one or the other but not both.

We stayed for 3 nights from the friday till the monday. Apon arrival we were blown away by the view across the valley and out to sea. The manor house looks like something out of a jane austin film. The complex is incredibly clean and feels really spaced out so your not ontop of other guests. The pool is great heated too which was a nice suprise for this time of year! The virginia lodge was far above what we expected having never stayed in a lodge before. The lounge/kitchen had all we needed and really felt cosy and was again well heated. the staff at the park seem helpful and actually look happy to work there which says it all really. When we return to hastings again next year we will 100% be staying here, i would recommend this park to anyone

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left this holiday was one of the best most relaxing we have had. A 4 night break for 5 people ( we stayed in Minnesota number 3 ) The lodge was large enough yet cosy enough at the same time. Spotlessly clean kitchen (stocked with everything you need for a self catering holiday) comfy lounge and 3 faired sized bedrooms made for a great stay. Food in the restaurant / bar was very good, the bar itself was small but adequate with additional seating available. Prices and choice was sufficient too. We didn't use the swimming pool but we did have a look and it seemed OK.
The park was ideally situated for easy access to the coast (Hastings), Battle and Bodiam Castle - all of these were visited and we can say that all are worth a visit.
Overall a lovely break, relaxing and great family fun.

Room Tip: There is ample space between lodges so you never felt cramped. If I went again I think I would try...

We stayed for 7 nights in Heritage Lodge #44 which is the first lodge you reach once you have driven up the long drive way. Our lodge was secluded and very much detached from the others, with the hot tub concealed and partially facing an open field, with great views.

The lodge was clean, tidy with all fixtures operational.

We stayed Sat to Sat and ate a couple of times in the Manor House. We were daily customers of the swimming pool with our two and a half year old who loved the pool. There is a gym, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi etc. The staff at the pool were friendly and helpful.

Be aware of the weddings. I don't think these generally take over and there were two hosted during our stay. They were in no way disruptive to our stay, but I can imagine the Manor house gets crowded as this is the only bar. A marquee is in place outside for the weddings although I did see one reception being set-up inside. We did not visit with the intention of clinging to the park facilities as we wanted to explore the area.

Our lodge had a 4 man private hot tub which was superb. The kitchen had a dishwasher, electric oven / hob and fridge freezer.

Would happily stay again without hesitation.

Stayed here for an extended weekend over four nights.

Had one of the cheaper units, which covered everything we needed and really could not see the point of spending more on the large/expensive type of lodge, unless you wanted to stay in the whole time you was here.

Unit was spotlessly clean on arrive. All mod cons and sundries; Cooker, toaster, kettle, cutlery, plates, cups, glasses etc. Located 5 mins drive from Battle town/shops and about 10-15 mins to Hastings itself and the beach.

Great location, very quiet and secluded.

My partner and I took our 2 year old on his first holiday, we did not want to go abroad so we tried a lodge holiday for 7 nights. It was perfect. The Colorado plus lodge (no.113) was modern, exceptionally clean, spacious and with fabulous views! The lodge is in a garden walled area so it gives you that extra privacy. The hot tub was clean and in a very good condition. The children's adventure play park was great, my son loved it and was in a brilliant condition, getting him back to the lodge was the issue!!! We used the leisure centre every day for swimming which was great, changing rooms were in a good condition and the pool was always a good temperature. We did find however that swimming was sometimes quite difficult as parents didn't seem to understand the use of the children's area and encroached on the lanes, but apart from this it was extremely pleasant. We only used the bar once for drinks, the prices were fair and the staff were courteous. Being able to park right by your lodge was such a bonus as not many sites do have this facility. The location is excellent with so many attractions in the area. Battle is a beautiful place and well worth a visit. There are many restaurants and pubs. Crowhurst Park was the perfect first holiday for our 2 year old son and we would not have changed any part of it. Well worth a visit...

Room Tip: Colorado Plus had the best privacy for the hot tub and awesome views from sitting rather than having...
