“Easter 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

We spent four nights in this B and B and had both rooms for the duration of our stay. We arrived at the appointed time and met Stephanie who, along with her husband Johnny, provided a warm welcome then and throughout our stay. Our rooms were spotless and comfortable. (If you need a lot of space, then go for the double with the en-suite. The other room, though smaller, is perfectly fine for relaxing and the double-aspect windows provide light and a view onto the immaculate grounds.) Breakfasts were delicious - fresh fruit, cereal, orange juice, any combination of cooked English breakfast items. This was served in the very large hall which is airy and beautifully decorated. Stephanie creates an informal, yet not overly familiar, atmosphere and has an excellent eye for design and interior decoration.

We were delighted with our visit. Stephanie and Johnny both made us feel very welcome. They were chatty and welcoming and offered advice about the local area and eateries. Even before our arrival, Steph had suggested possibilities for eating out and offered to make bookings for us. We had a lovely large room with en-suite shower room. The room had double doors opening onto the garden and a secluded seating area, which would have been lovely in the summer. There are only two small points I would pick up and comment on from other reviews: I think a lock on the door would be a good idea. It wasn't an issue during our stay as we were the only guests, but if other people had been staying I would have felt happier being able to lock our door. The second point is seating: yes, as guests you are out and about exploring, but a couple of comfy chairs to relax into would be a great addition. The room was certainly large enough.
These are such minor and personal points, I'm sure loads of other people would be perfectly happy to lounge on the bed; which incidentally was very comfy!
Breakfast was lovely; yoghurts, fresh fruit and cereals followed by a freshly cooked breakfast, cooked to your order while you eat your cereals! Yes, it's served in a hallway......but that 'hallway' is a big open plan area in the centre of the house, with loads of natural light and no through traffic. We were even treated to a glass of champagne with our breakfast on New Year's day. What more could we ask for?
Sorry for the time lapse in writing this review; no reason, apart from forgetfulness.

We spent two nights in this wonderful part of the country, and booked both the rooms - the twin and the double. The breakfasts were fantastic, and the couple who own the B and B are charming and helpful. It is a beautiful and fantastically clean house, which is designed with the utmost care. The owners serve fresh local food on beautiful crockery, which adds to the whole ambiance.

The only small quibbles I have is that it might be best to refrigerate the milk left out for guests for the tea, as it was on the turn when we drank it, and make sure there is always fresh water left out. And the twin room needs more space for hanging clothes.

If you want high standards of cleanliness and comfort, if you want beautiful surroundings, if you want privacy, if you want highest quality breakfast, and if you want to be looked after by a charming couple - this is for you
The house is light, designed and decorated to the highest standard reflecting the themes of the sea and delighting the eye wherever you look. The rooms are comfortable with the best beds we have ever slept in - thick high quality mattresses, natural pillows and pure white linen. We stayed in the twin bed room with the large private bathroom next door with latest spotless fittings. The double room is larger, with a really beautiful on suite bathroom, light and beautifully decorated with french windows to its private garden seating area with - its the most exceptional B&B room you could iimagine. Stephanie & John are charming, and know exactly how to be welcoming, warm friendly but not intrusive. The breakfast was fresh and delicious with fresh fruit salads and everything cooked beautifully. I would recommend this as the best

I would have rather given the money to a charity we were in the room for all of one hour. it was so small you couldnt breathe. No sign of the owners we had to call a neighbour to let us in. If you dont spend 18 hours a day outside you will struggle as there is no where and i mean no where to sit. If you can put up with all of this you then have to have your breakfast in the windowless hallway. You also have to decide what you would like the night before. ( How do i know if i want cooked breakfast at 4.30 in the afternoon)

Sent an email commenting on our disappointment at the tiny room and the fact your breakfast was served in a windowless hallway and the reply was we love our house so sorry you didnt.

There are so many better places to stay at a better price.. No wonder she asks for half the money up front we would never have paid if we had seen the room but as the owner was no where to be seen and a neighbour took our breakfast order as soon as we arrived we were still in a daze and thought we would try and make the most of it .

After a seven mile walk and a meal it was now 7pm and we had no where to go other than our tiny room.. So we returned still no sign of the owners. We sat in our cell for 10 minutes realised we had made the worst mistake of our lives and came home.

We go away every six weeks and never have we experienced such poor customer service or such appaulling value. No we dont usually moan this is my first negative trip advisor review EVER!

Our home is run as a B&B, not a guest house with separate lounge area and no where on the website does it give this impression. We expect our guests to be out exploring this fabulous part of the countryside and with so much to see and do in the area, we struggle to wonder why people want to sit in the room. In the summer and when it is warm enough we have seating in the garden for our guests.
It is designed in a traditional new England style, the family eating area is the hallway. There are only the owners who serve breakfast to guests in the hall, there is no "through" traffic and light comes through double doors, an upstairs window and windows by the front door it is far from dark.
The "cell" bedroom measures 3.5m by 3.5 m bigger than the average new build bedroom. It is double aspect making it bright at all times. As somewhere to sleep, relax to read a book and have a cup of tea it is perfect. Why would you need more space?

We booked two nights in the twin room and yet didnt stay. We were encouraged by the positive reviews on this site which led us to book it. On arrival, there was know one to meet us despite being told that the room would be available fron 16:30. The Twin room really is very small ( the width of two single beds with bed side cabinets). There are no locks on the door and no cupboards to hang your clothing. It would appear, that had we stayed the night, breakfast would have been served in the Hall way of the house. I can not comment on the hosts as they were not available - again, rather strange. To get to the bathroom meant a walk down the hall way of the house. The house has received much publicity for its "design" and awards and yet both my wife and I fely very uncomortable during the hour we stayed in the room

We can honestly say this is the best place we have ever stayed. Stephanie and Johnny are the perfect hosts - attentive but relaxed, friendly and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully furnished with fresh, bright New - England decor and lots of lovely artistic touches. It is immaculate and super-clean without being forbidding. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of choice, all freshly prepared and top quality produce. Lampland House is set in beautiful gardens and is very quiet and peaceful; it has the added bonus of being on the edge of a Nature Reserve and the delightful village of Walberswick. 2 excellent pubs and a small cafe/restaurant mean you never have to stray too far - although the whole area is wonderful to explore. Thank you Stephanie and Johnny for a fantastic stay; we look forward to our next visit.
