“The worst £80 i have ever spent”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2011

I would have rather given the money to a charity we were in the room for all of one hour. it was so small you couldnt breathe. No sign of the owners we had to call a neighbour to let us in. If you dont spend 18 hours a day outside you will struggle as there is no where and i mean no where to sit. If you can put up with all of this you then have to have your breakfast in the windowless hallway. You also have to decide what you would like the night before. ( How do i know if i want cooked breakfast at 4.30 in the afternoon)

Sent an email commenting on our disappointment at the tiny room and the fact your breakfast was served in a windowless hallway and the reply was we love our house so sorry you didnt.

There are so many better places to stay at a better price.. No wonder she asks for half the money up front we would never have paid if we had seen the room but as the owner was no where to be seen and a neighbour took our breakfast order as soon as we arrived we were still in a daze and thought we would try and make the most of it .

After a seven mile walk and a meal it was now 7pm and we had no where to go other than our tiny room.. So we returned still no sign of the owners. We sat in our cell for 10 minutes realised we had made the worst mistake of our lives and came home.

We go away every six weeks and never have we experienced such poor customer service or such appaulling value. No we dont usually moan this is my first negative trip advisor review EVER!

Our home is run as a B&B, not a guest house with separate lounge area and no where on the website does it give this impression. We expect our guests to be out exploring this fabulous part of the countryside and with so much to see and do in the area, we struggle to wonder why people want to sit in the room. In the summer and when it is warm enough we have seating in the garden for our guests.
It is designed in a traditional new England style, the family eating area is the hallway. There are only the owners who serve breakfast to guests in the hall, there is no "through" traffic and light comes through double doors, an upstairs window and windows by the front door it is far from dark.
The "cell" bedroom measures 3.5m by 3.5 m bigger than the average new build bedroom. It is double aspect making it bright at all times. As somewhere to sleep, relax to read a book and have a cup of tea it is perfect. Why would you need more space?

We booked two nights in the twin room and yet didnt stay. We were encouraged by the positive reviews on this site which led us to book it. On arrival, there was know one to meet us despite being told that the room would be available fron 16:30. The Twin room really is very small ( the width of two single beds with bed side cabinets). There are no locks on the door and no cupboards to hang your clothing. It would appear, that had we stayed the night, breakfast would have been served in the Hall way of the house. I can not comment on the hosts as they were not available - again, rather strange. To get to the bathroom meant a walk down the hall way of the house. The house has received much publicity for its "design" and awards and yet both my wife and I fely very uncomortable during the hour we stayed in the room

We can honestly say this is the best place we have ever stayed. Stephanie and Johnny are the perfect hosts - attentive but relaxed, friendly and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully furnished with fresh, bright New - England decor and lots of lovely artistic touches. It is immaculate and super-clean without being forbidding. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of choice, all freshly prepared and top quality produce. Lampland House is set in beautiful gardens and is very quiet and peaceful; it has the added bonus of being on the edge of a Nature Reserve and the delightful village of Walberswick. 2 excellent pubs and a small cafe/restaurant mean you never have to stray too far - although the whole area is wonderful to explore. Thank you Stephanie and Johnny for a fantastic stay; we look forward to our next visit.

Our trip was made very easy with great idea's and suggestion from Stephanie. Each morning we had a lovely breakfast, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, freshly cooked to order bacon, eggs etc and toast, really could not have asked for more.

We had the double room with en-suite, and patio doors which opened on to decking with table and chairs for our use. Decor was lovely, bathroom was unique in a nice way.

Can only thank Stephanie and Johnny for making us feel so welcome.

to stay at Lampland House. Beautifully decorated rooms with a real seaside feel. Stephanie and Johnny are always brilliant hosts. There ability to book a great table at the wonderful local pub always make it and added extra. Thoroughly recommend it for a great weekend getaway. A great walk into Southwold for fun - great pubs and great shops - something for the girls and the boys.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2009

Unusual New Engand style house, interior-decorated to within an inch of its life. About 15 minutes walk from The Bell (best pub for food) in centre of Walberswick.
Owner Stephanie is very friendly and helpful. Only catch is that the large double room is splendid, with its own ensuite and terrace area, while the twin is rather cramped, with minimal storage and its private bathroom next door down the front hall. So if you stay in the double - 4 or 5 stars, the twin only 3 stars.
