“ALWAYS top quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Top class fish and chip, always beautifully cooked. Nice character eat in. I note previous comments about being expensive which I agree...BUT..it is Southwold (never cheap!) and the consistent quality warrants the price.

OK, but could be much better... This is only a few miles away from a fishing port... Why so expensive???

“Awful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

The chips were under cooked, pale and limp! The fish batter was very soggy possibly the worst fish and chips I have eaten. I asked for the chips to be cooked longer but was told 'they all come out together'. Won't return.

“What could be better?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

I have only ever had takeaway fish and chips from Mark's because fish and chips at the seaside should really be eaten outside. It is a simple pleasure but one wich, when right, is unbeatable. Fish and chips from Mark's is reliably excellent. The potatoes used had an excellent flavour and the chips were just the right level of crispiness ("crisp, undt light brown" to quote Dad's Army). the cod was firm and flaky and the batter light but was wrapped so quickly after cooking that the steam got into its crispiness a bit - something I've not had before. Take note Mark's, the first rush of steam needs to go off before you wrap!
