“Wonderful Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Jasmine to celebrate my partner's 65th birthday.
Selected this b&b mainly from other reviews on trip advisor and certainly we were not disappointed. Roger and Sue are absolutely lovely people, friendly helpful and we felt we had known them for ages. We stayed in the Kittiwake room, which is in the front of the bungalow and although a little on the small side it was fine for our short stay very clean and with an excellent comfy bed and lovely white bedding. The back garden is huge and there is a table and chairs for guests use if required. Roger is brilliant for local information regarding places to eat, walks and places to visit. Breakfast is first class with a great choice which is very well cooked and the full english is a winner. Nothing is too much trouble for Roger and his friendly personality shines through. We did a great walk to Walberswick via the tracks and along the waters edge and returned via the "ferry" (which is a must for fun, its actually a rowing boat which goes back and forth for 90p). Walberswick it a quaint place with two brilliant pubs, a couple of brilliant tea rooms and gift shops. Go there you will not be disappointed. Another tip - visit Tilly's Tea Room in Southwold its brilliant lovely selection of hot and cold food and very friendly service.
All in all the Jasmine is a first class b&b and we will definitely go back when we return to Southwold. Many thanks Roger and Sue, Hope business continues to go well.

At the end of our trip around English counties, this was our last stop and it was fabulous. We were made so welcome by Roger with coffee in the garden, and lots of recommendations of where to visit and eat. The room and bathroom were sparkling clean with a very generous refreshments tray. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruits and beautifully cooked full English and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. We will definitely be visiting again!

Charming hosts who could not be more helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

The room was comfy and the bathroom spotlessly clean, both were freshly decorated. It is obvious that both hosts take their role very seriously and take trouble to make guests welcome.

This is the sort of place that you will come back to.

As a treat ask Roger about the kippers for breakfast.

The location is good, just a few minutes walk out of town so you do not have to take the car and try to park in the busy town. It is far enough out to avoid the crowds and much pricier venues to stay at.....and possibly not as good!

I travel a great deal on business and for leisure and will find it dificult to find a more charming place to stay...thoroughly recommended, excellent value.

Room Tip: The room at the back has a lovely view over the large garden and is lovely to wake up to.

We stayed in the Kittiwake room which is a little snug with the ensuite being a tad on the small side. However more than made up with the friendliness of both Roger and Sue and breakfast was plentiful. We were also welcomed with a pot of tea on the patio and ideas for what to see and do and where to eat in the area. It is about a 20 minute walk to the pier from here at a gentle stroll pace. We would recommend to friends/family wanting a budget break as very competetively priced at £65.00 per night per room.

Roger made us very welcome, and we enjoyed a cafetiere of coffee on the patio when we arrived, and studied the leaflet on local information he provided. We felt at home straight away - Jasmine has a very relaxed feel. Breakfasts are excellent, with plenty of choice. Roger & Sue are very knowledgeable about the local area. We enjoyed the walk along the river to Walberswick and back to Southwold via the rowing boat ferry. It is a short walk into Southwold where there are plenty of places to eat in the evening. We often walked back across the fields from the beach huts. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

Jasmine's is a comfortable and bright bungalow style property with a great big garden and off road parking. We stayed in the Kittewake at £65 a night which is good price for this area and size room (smaller than usual but just big enough for two). The bed was very creaky though so it it made us feel uncomfortable moving even an elbow or knee. Plus the mattress was too soft - I just don't like it when it starts to sinks in the middle when there's two people in the bed. I think some support/extra leg in the middle part of the bed frame would help alleviate both problems.
The breakfast itself was plentiful, nicely presented and tasted fine - except they didn't have veggie sausages even though we told them in advance. There also isn't a menu so you're not inspired unless your told of another choice.
All in all this is an easy going and relaxed place with all the mod cons you expect from a decent B&B (+KitKats/Penguins and hot chocolate!) and Roger and Sue are lovely.
