“Not a bad stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Was basic as you would expect for £25 a night. The kettle really needed to be rescaled and there was a some mild in the bathroom but overall it was ok.

The shower was hot and the staff were very friendly.

Room Tip: BEWARE THE ENTRANCE ROAD it is in serious need of re Tarmac and full of holes.

We have stayed there so many times now its like our second home, we love the place and there is talk of it being closed. My advice to Travelodge - Don't!. Its quiet although its next to the A11, and on the main road from Ipswich to Norwich (A112?) its a great road to drive and there is a lot of countryside to see, the hotel is set perfectly with a plethora of wildlife to watch if you get a room to the back of the building. Take a camera and watch stoats and badgers in the fields at the back if that is your thing, It isnt mine but its really great to watch it all on a sunny morning. The hotel is quiet, the staff are lovely and cuddly, friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have all that you want. As is the case with the Travelodge franchise, there is a Little Chef always nearby and when you stay here there is a discount the amount of which I cant remember but if you are on the road its a nice little drive in.

Room Tip: upstairs at the back of the building best views of the fields and the wildlife. My personal favorite...

We stayed here for one night, have to admit after reading reviews we were a little apprehensive. When we arrived we were given a warm welcome by a very pleasant lady on reception who explained everything clearly to us and told us not to hesitate if there was anything we needed at all. The room was very basic but very clean, one tip though do take your own pillows if you like a lot of support as pillows quite thin. We were in a room at the front which was very noisy during the night with traffic on the main road and trucks pulling into the service area. If we had been there for more than one night we would probably have asked if there was a room available at the back but for one night there was no point. All in all a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if possible

I have to write in the acknowledgement this is Travelodge- therefore a very cheap, low price budget hotel, so with that in mind-

The good points- pleasant views, decent televisions, bibles in rooms, very spacious rooms, easy to find from A14, nice enough staff, good parking facilities, easy to navigate around hotel,

The bad points- bland rooms (grey walls and floors - prison cell), uncomfortable hard chair, no telephone to contact Reception as only two milk cartons for the whole 24h, dirty menu in room, random seashell/dolphin shower curtain

We requested a twin too but on check in realised the hotel only has family rooms and so we were advised we would have to make our own sofa bed up.

Although, internally you could hear the movement through the ceiling from the floor above, and the corridors, externally, despite being next to the A14, the hotel is very quiet!

Room Tip: Rooms on the back offer a nicer view out of the two sides

Stayed here for two nights. Had a room at the back so despite it being near a busy road it was very quiet and had a good sleep both nights. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Went into Needham Market, less than ten minutes by car to eat in a local pub. All in all a good stay.

Room Tip: At the back.

Stopped here for a night before attending an Applicant day at the University of Essex. The Travelodge was clean, the bed was comfy. Despite being by a petrol station and by a busy road I still got a good nights sleep and didn't hear any noise. I would therefore recomend this travelodge to anyone and the room rates are very reasonable.
The staff their are friendly and helpful and so are the staff at Little Chef. The food was a lot better than it used to be as heston blumenthal's menu has been introduced. You get 20% if you show them your room key when paying the bill.

This was a very good travelodge. I have stayed in it twice now. The staff were excellent - especially Delia. My only complaint - and this is the same with all travelodges - is that the beds are horribly hard.
