Description: The White Horse is a traditional pub serving fine ales and delicious wines with scrumptious homemade food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. At the White Horse, you'll be sure of a warm welcome. A fabulous little spot in Old Felixstowe, where you will find regular guest ales and wines of the moment. Our menu is made up of fresh, locally sourced produce including daily seasonal specials and a wonderful traditional Sunday roast. We're open all day 7 days a week, serving food lunchtimes and evenings daily, and all day at weekends. Our enclosed beer garden with large patio is perfect for afternoon tea or a glass of Pimms! “Under new management and the food is now fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

On my visits to Old Felixstowe over the years, I have always gone to this pub for a pint and occasionally for a reasonable meal. On my last visit I was amazed at the improvement in the quality and range of the food, both at lunchtime and in the evening (and yes, I did go twice in three days). The atmosphere is good, the staff attentive and very responsive, e.g. for the need to serve a party of 12 very quickly at lunchtime, as they had to go on to a funeral! Great specials from the board, changing regularly and often using locally sourced food - the fish dishes are melt-in-your-mouth. A good variety of meat and game also on the menu. Portions to satisfy the hungry eaters and enough 'light' dishes on the menu to suit those watching their weight. The range of beers too is as good as ever.

“wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

What a difference a year makes! Love the new team and the food is just great. The chefs really know what they are doing and the service is very welcoming. We were lucky to get a seat and enjoyed every minute. We will be back soon xxx

“Food Good, Service not so good.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

I visited the restaurant with 5 friends for a catch up. We found the staff at times, quite inattentive and tactless. The Maitre D was less than impressed to tell us about the specials. (Even though there was only one other table in the restaurant at the time - well, all evening in fact).

For example when one coffee was missing from our order - the Maitre D shouted across the bar -'switch on that machine again' - It made our friend feel it was her fault for the waitress's inattention to detail and forgetting to serve all coffees ordered. When two guests requested some more custard for the apple crumble (equivalent to a tablespoon full served with a large portion of apple crumble isn't really sufficient)- again the Maitre D said that the 'Chef may have gone home.' We were reluctantly served.

The food was very good - if at times, not quite hot enough, but nevertheless - there were clean plates all round and it was enjoyed by all.

It appears that there have been a lot of staff changes in a very short time, and of course teams need time to gel together - so lets hope things improve.

Will probably return, because of the food, but not because of the service we received on this occasion.

“Very nice eaterie tucked away in Old Felixstowe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

This is my mum and her partner's local and they love it, so I booked it up for Mother's Day evening. We all had the Roast Topside of Beef which was just wonderful - beautifully presented and all cooked exactly as we asked. The service was very attentive, with a smile and ambience great - us ladies even got given a lovely little box of chocolates at the end - totally unexpected but a very thoughtful gesture, This gastro pub tucked away in Old Felixstowe is well worth a visit for a relaxing, unstuffy, beautifully cooked meal out. They even have relaxing sofa's to the right as you come in and all the daily papers for you to read - so you can even pop in for just a drink or coffee.
