“21st birthday and overnight stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

We booked a 21st birthday celebration for our daughter and stayed overnight (in order to avoid the after party at home). Brome Grange's organisation and arrangement of the birthday celebration in the Tithe Barn was first class - lots of attention to detail, that help make the event successful. The Tithe Barn is a great function room. The hotel bedroom was comfortable, well decorated and the breakfast spot on. Really pleased to see this refurbished hotel busy and successful. Many thanks!

I am surprised by this small hotel tucked away from the main track. Staff are friendly and service is good. We were greeted by a bottle of champagne and chocolate and shopping at the nearby Bury St Edmunds was excellent. A very good Xmas shopping trip!

We stayed for two nights dinner bed and breakfast and were very impressed with the value for money 'romantic break'
The food at both mealtimes was lovely and the staff we met made our stay very special. They had the personal touch, especially restaurant manager Jonathan and the older barman ( sorry, forgot name!) The ladies at reception were also very welcoming.
Our double room was large with plenty of storage and everything we needed, but there
was a drawback. I'm reluctant to mention it as we enjoyed our stay, but I have spotted another reviewer who had the same problem, so feel I must mention it so it can be addressed by management.
The cleanliness of our room was not up to standard. There were cobwebs all round the coving and down the wall and round the wooden bed feet. Our bedside lamps also needed dusting. I suppose spiders work pretty quickly when making webs but these must have been there a while. Surely the whole of the room should be checked and cleaned properly when a visitor leaves. Bathroom was clean and plenty of clean towels.

We hope to return to this hotel sometime as we loved the small intimate ambiance of it.

Overall this has the potential to be a really great hotel.

My understanding is that Best Western have recently purchased it and are gradually refurbishing it. This can be seen in places where for example some of the carpets need replacing but this does not at all detract from the freindly service, very good food, lovely room (Hartismere Suite).

On arrival we were warmly greeted by a young lady who showed us to our room. The Hartismere suite is really quirky in that you have a very good sized bedroom with very large wardrobe and comfortable bed. Through a door you then have a living area containing a television and a sofa. Through another door you have a very large bathroom.

We had an evening meal in the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and service. Tried to book again for Saturday but unfortunately it was fully booked. Another good point was that the wine was a reasonable price which is unusual for some hotels who charge a fortune.

Breakfast consisted of the usual cereal, toast, full english etc. Once again very good attentive service and good quality.

Brome is around 30 minutes from Norwich which is well worth a visit.

Overall a really enjoyable weekend and would return again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Choose one of the suites. We had the Hartismere Suite which was really comfortable and roomy.

This was a very disapointing hotel as after all the good reveiws on Trip Advisor we were expecting better.

The food was really poor.

There were too many staff - waiting and reception and only one person doing the 'cooking'. i think that explains the quality of g=cooking and food that this hotel is offering.

I would not recommend this hotel and neither would i visit again.

I will also be more wary of other people's reviews in the future.

We used our Groupon voucher and received a fantastic service. It was our wedding anniversary and I paid for the superior room. I asked for the room with the four poster bed which unknown to me turned out to be the honeymoon suite, it was simply superb and we had a great time.
This hotel is ideally located for touring and the only reason for it not being awarded 5 stars was the fact that some of the staff were new and the consequence was a slight lowering of service.
The other was why make a hefty surcharge for a national paper, this was the first hotel that's done that to me, hence the cynicism.

Room Tip: If available, book the Brome Suite and pay the extra, it was well worth it.
