My partner and I stayed at Benchmark House for three nights in mid February. Beautifully decorated house; exceptionally clean and very nice touches in your rooms ie good hospitality tray and bathroom products.

Breakfast is excellent; good choice and plenty of food on offer.

If you are thinking of staying in this area of Norfolk then I would really recommend that you give Nigel and Angela a call, they are very generous hosts. You will not be disappointed.

my nan and i stayed at benchmark house for two nights in a luxurious twin room.
Spotlessly clean throughout and extremely comfortable. our ensuite bathroom was huge with a bath and separate double shower. every little detail had been thought of, there was nothing more we could want for.
breakfast was superb. freshly prepared and served at individual tables in the beautiful dining room over looking the gorgeous gardens.
a great location for touring norfolk and only a short 5 min walk into sherringham. you'd expect to pay far more for this kind of luxury accommodation.

We have just returned from a long weekend at the Benchmark Guesthouse in Sheringham and I have to say it was worth every penny. We found Angela and Nigel very welcoming, we arrived early so they made us Tea with biscuits and we had a lovely relaxing hour in the Beautiful garden while Nigel introduced himself and told us a little about the local area and the house. Nigel was born and brought up in the area and was very informative and had every tourist brochure you could wish for.
The house and the bedrooms are both spacious, well decorated and spotlessly clean. We had the fourposter bed which even my wife who is fussy regarding hotel beds found very comfy.
The breakfast in the morning is simply superb, nothing is too much trouble. There is a large array of choice for breakfast but I chose Porridge followed by the full English breakfast, the quality of the dry cured bacon, local sausages and eggs was evident with every mouthful. Normally I have to fill up with toast after most hotel breakfasts but I was so full I could not eat again until early evening.
The guest house is a credit to the hard work that must have been put in by Angela and Nigel, you can tell a lot of thought has gone into every aspect of the house, there are a lot of nice little touches which I will let you find out for yourselves. I wish all B&Bs in England could come close to these standards.

“Don't go anywhere else! What a lovely place and Angela and Nigel are special.”

Hello to everyone,
I had a look at all the bed and breakfasts and booked this one because it looked quite special. The rooms were all elegantly stocked and it was very much to the standard of a four star hotel. I was treated by Angela and Nigel like I was a guest in their country house. There is a small car park in the front of the house which is very convenient. You drive in and the owners are there to greet you.
I used to book conferences as part of my job for a major company and I attended many 4 star hotels in London. I would compare the service, decor and food with a 4 star hotel. The rooms are exceptionally clean and are charming.
My favourite room was number 5 which is at the top of the house and gives a splendid view of Sheringham.
The breakfast alone was quite amazing. Not only did you get a full cooked breakfast with porridge but also the choice of either an equally amazing fruit salad or croissant filled with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs as well as all the usual breads and jams on the table for you to choose from.
Angela and Nigel thought of everything to make you stay a memorable and very comfortable one. The bedrooms have all the necessary things, coffee maker, hair drier, shampoos, etc, and the beds were extremely comfortable. They even supply white terrycloth robes and I have only seen that in a 5 star hotel.
A few towns away they advertised a room for £175 per night in a small resturant hotel. I had a look at it and it was basic with no breakfast and certainly no service like you get from Benchmark. They even have a games room if the weather is inclement and the garden is a haven where you can sit and read the paper or read a book.
This place is a gem in the crown. Sheringham is a lovely Norfolk seaside town with lots to do in the area. If you get to go on the Broads by boat, or take a boat out to see the seals, or birdwatch, make sure you book this place before hand.
I can't rate this place more highly and if you stay here, it will be the highlight of your stay in Norfolk. If the top mark for a bed and breakfast place is 10, then this is an 11!
If you manage to get rooms at this place, then book it with haste. It has a 5 star rating with the AA and the Tourist Board and has only been operating for less than a year which says it all.
Enjoy Sheringham and Benchmark House.
