“Three day break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

Stayed for 3 nights end of May. Once again a very pleasant stay. Nelson suite has had a recent overhaul and looks great. Comfortable bed as always and separate lounge a great boon for an early riser. Management as friendly as ever and staff relaxed and helpful. A lovely short break and breakfast was delicious.

Stayed for one night in one if the suites. Very comfy bed, decor a little dated but I was informed that the owners are re-furb rooms one at a time, having said that it was so clean, and the sunken bath was a nice suprise. The food in the evening was fantastic, and the breakfast was exceptional. Have to say, I think this was the best breakfast I've ever had, all produce is sourced locally. Well done Scarborough Hill, we will definitely be back. ( oh and the local fudge in the room is gorgeous)

On our arrival here after a long journey we were made very welcome by the friendly staff and offered a late supper of local cheeses and biscuits - excellent! Following the next morning's delicious breakfast, we decided to spend another day in the area and booked an extra night at this delightful hotel. All the staff are friendly and interested in what you have been doing during your stay. Nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely try to come back some time in the future.

My wife and I stayed at Scarborough Hill on a Saturday evening recently. We received a really warm welcome; nothing was too much trouble for the owner or their staff. We stayed in the Nelson Suite which has a sitting room as well as bedroom and bathroom. The room looked recently decorated and was clean and welcoming. We were unsure whether to eat at the hotel or head to the Coast. We decided to eat at the hotel and we are pleased we did. As a starter we had fresh locally sourced crab cake and enjoyed a well cooked steak for the main.

We both slept really well and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Choose the Nelson Suite if available!

We booked a five night stay and on arrival were allocated the Nelson Suite and what super accommodation it provided. A large bedroom, separate sitting room and a huge bathroom with sunken bath, all tastefully furnished and well decorated. All facilities including good toiletries and a bonus of shortbread biscuits and fudge. The breakfast was very good with locally sourced produce and home made fruit yoghurts. There is a large conservatory restaurant which provides a good choice of menu, the quality of food is good and I was lucky to be ample to sample the new season asparagus, a real treat. A reasonable selection of wines sensibly priced. A comfortable homely bar with a large selection of whiskeys and a couple of good local real ales. The staff are all customer focused, very friendly and should you need any assistance it will be immediately actioned. It is pleasing to find staff that care and they all deserve commendation. We were extremely satisfied with our stay. .

We had a lovely stay at this country inn. The room and bathroom were very clean and inviting. Breakfast was very good, (but please remember the fruit and yoghurt each day so we don't have to ask!). Staff were extremely friendly and helpful in all aspects. The grounds were beautiful with the daffodils and blossom looking spectacular and the free range hens were very entertaining. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: We were at the front and had a lovely green view.

Booking in was carried out swiftly and in a most efficient manner by Ian who then escorted us to our room, room 3. Good size and well decorated and having a lovely view of the extensive grounds. Prior to dinner we sat in the lounge area to have a drink from the well stocked bar and then went into the small restaurant the menu was good with sufficient choice. Service was swift and the food was excellent.
Good nights sleep and once more plenty of choice on the breakfast menu. Our family came over for lunch and all of us thoroughly enjoyed. Our 1 year old grand daughter was very taken with the chickens that roam about the grounds Lunch and evening meal on the Saturday was served in the conservatory which over looked the grounds.
Local ingredients are used on the menu and are of good quality. An excellent stay and we look forward to staying again in the near future.
