excellent staff on arrival, very attentive and friendly, my partner and i both had i expectations heightened. Lovely drinks and atmosphere in the bar area.
went through to dining room, it was decorated very well, but no atmosphere, some quiet background music would have helped.
The starter was amazing, we both had scallops, cooked perfectly.
It then went downwards after that, my partner had the lamb for main course, she was told it was served pink, perfect just how she likes it, unfortunately it was very overcooked, pink it was not.
i myself had pheasant, it was so dry i had to help it down with water. In both cases the vegetables were very tasty and cooked very well.
my partner ordered fruit in wine jelly for dessert, a short while later she was told the jelly hadnt set and was offered a creme brulee, this was hot on the top but still frozen on the base.
Im sorry to say the evening certainly wasnt worth the price we had to pay.
This hotel is on our doorstep but im afraid we wont be dining there again.
But to end on a positive point, the whole hotel was very very clean and well presented, the front of house staff were brilliant, cant fault them in any way.
I was my birthday that day and the staff presented me with a small complimentary birthday cake with a huge candle, this i felt was a great gesture.
