Stopped by today for an impromptu lunch. The Bluebell doesn't seem to pretend to be anything it isn't. It's a no frills pub on the outside edge of an untrendy Norfolk market town. The barman (proprietor) was friendly, welcoming and efficient. The dining room was clean, warm and spacious. The waitress was very good at her job, making us all feel comfortable and well looked after. The food was a very pleasant surprise. A pretty standard selection of pub grub but everything we had was a hit. Home cooked mince pie with veg and gravy (fussy gravy eater considered the gravy very good) and freshly cooked cod in batter (normally picky grandma ate the whole thing with relish and had a cheesecake for pudding!!) were perfectly done. The omlette was pronounced 'just perfect' (ie soft inside and not rubbery) and those of us who had salads were very impressed with the presentation, freshness and generosity of key ingredients. The prices were extremely good. The garden out the back looked very well kept with tables under cover. We will definitely be going back and recommending it to our holiday cottage guests.
