“The best you can find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Called in this morning after seeing sign on main road, found the place to be a real blast from the past. Staff and service were first class and the food was a credit to whoever prepared it. Would not hesitate to recommend to anybody, thank you Southill tea room, will certainly visit again when passing.

“village gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

I went to the tearoom with my daughter for lunch. My first impression was the lovely setting the tearoom was in , very quaint little garden with picnic benches outside, I guess it would be a lovely place to sit in the summer. The staff were friendly and everything is served on China plates with a proper teapot, don't go here if your in a hurry as its a relaxed atmosphere not a place to rush'. There is also a small shop attached that sells groceries etc .My only criticism is it can get quite cramped if there's a few people in there but we'll worth a visit

“Delightful in all respects”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Friendly and welcoming, this is the quintessential village tea room. The beauty is in the simplicity. Excellent service, great food and good value for money. It is a tea room, not a restaurant. If you want a lovely sandwich, scone and cup of tea, you would be hard pushed to go somewhere better for it.

“Homely snacks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

For this little tearoom to be rated as the top restaurant in Bedfordshire (1/468 currently) or even the top restaurant in Biggleswade (1/19 currently) is absolutely ludicrous.
It is without a doubt one of the nicest tearooms that I have ever visited, with lovely snacks and delicious homemade cakes, but it is NOT a "top restaurant" or even, by my definition, any sort of restaurant. There are about half a dozen tables in a room adjoining the village shop. The cafe serves toasted sandwiches, baked potatoes with a choice of three fillings, a couple of homemade soups and a selection of cakes or home-baked scones with clotted cream. That's it. One of the two soups today was broccoli & stilton. It came in a huge bowl, was piping hot and was absolutely delicious (the best that I have ever tasted) and the warm scone was giant-sized, perfectly cooked and with ample cream. The quality of the food really is excellent, but the choice is severely limited. The service was friendly, and homely, like the food. Can we recommend it? Yes, provided that you are aware of what to expect. The prices are very reasonable (£18 for three of us this lunchtime).

Thank you for your review, and please accept my apologies for not responding sooner. I hope you have visited for a second time and have seen that our menu does also include a variety of breakfasts, a range of sandwiches, both toasted and otherwise, served with salad and crisps, along with home made quiche each day. Once the weather improves we will also start serving a daily salad. Whilst this doesn't make us a contender for the largest menu, I do hope that you will always find something that suits your taste. The team and I look forward to seeing you here again soon. Sue
