“Great Manager”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Went on a Saturday night. Very busy, Manageress came up and told us tat she would try to find us a table as soon as possible. This turned out to be approx. 3 minutes. Service was great as normal only fault scampi was reformed and not crispy, but my gammon was great. Greene King should be proud of this employee.

“Keep coming back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

I eat here with friends for a late lunch on Sunday afternoons, yet to find much, if anything, to complain about. Although busy they always find us a table. Pleased that although it's recently under new management the standards of food/service haven't changed, always a worry when you've found a decent place to eat out. Very pleasant new landlady is front of house, her husband is the chef.
Staff always friendly and efficient, restaurant always clean, excellent large garden/play area for children, food consistently well cooked and presented, plenty of parking (although on rare occasions we have had to park on the roadside as they're so popular).
All in all a very pleasant, relaxing dining experience which we will continue to repeat.

“On the poor side of average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Visited with family for a sunday lunch. There were a fair amount of us (8), but the pub was totally dead.

All food was ordered at the same time, and arrived within 20 mins, and all dishes arrived together (A good thing)

However a few of the dishes had key parts missing (burrito was sold as chicken, rice, sour cream, avocado) - what you'd expect.
What was actually served was chicken, cheese and rice.. and it was a bit mean in qty (a wrap holding a handful of ingredience sadly in the middle of the plate.

It was eventually solved after discussing with the server the missing ingredience were not hiding under the chicken. (but it did take some convincing).

My steak was pretty inedible (unfortunately).. greasy chips, peas... (good piri piri sauce though).

Other people seemed happy with their food, and it is priced pretty well (as most pubs are).
..and possibly because we seated at 12:00 it was a bit early for 8 simultaneous orders.

All in all;

friendly staff
good service
timely delivery
average food.

i'll stick to drinking what comes out the pump from now on..

“No idea”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Nothing ready, long wait and a dangerous garden.
Staff are inexperienced and it shows.
We pointed out the broken glass amongst the pile of abandoned broken picnic tables and a half effort was made to clear it up.
We got there early one Saturday and they could not produce a hot meal.

“Not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Visited with my 2 year old son and a couple of friends. Very hot day and was pretty empty. The service was quite quick but we had a few issues. One being the filthy high chairs. I had to clean mouldy stale food from the seats. I watched a member of staff fold up another chair after a family left and they didn't clean that one either, My son almost ate a very old bit of pasta. Yuk. Another problem we had was the amount of flies in the pub! I know the heat can make this avoidable to an extent but there seemed to be no attempt to limit this. We were constantly swiping them away from our food. Also the fact they had no baguettes seemed silly. We went early lunch time and it wasn't heaving by any means, we waited a while at the bar to be informed of this. Why no sign up? The food we did get was poor. The chips were over cooked and soggy and the churros were pre cooked and hard as a rock.
