We went to The Lounge for dinner after having an afternoon coffee on a previous occasion and thinking the atmosphere was great. We started our evening in the bar area with drinks and had a great couple of hours - the drink choices - alcoholic and non-alcoholic - were great, the atmosphere was good and the service was attentive. We were looking forward to dinner. We shouldn't have done.
We went upstairs to eat, and from here the whole evening changed. The service was superficial - for example, the waitress asked if everything was OK but had left the table before we had a chance to answer! The starter and main came incredibly close together, and the quality was so bad that I haven't experienced anything similar for a very long time! We had bread and dips to start, and the bread was a few days old and not at all fresh. The garlic dip was so vinegary! thank goodness for the hummus - this was actually delicious.
On to main courses - arrived very quickly, steak very fatty and a small cut, chips tasteless, peppercorn sauce was so watery it was tasteless also - not worth £22!! The pork tenderloin was tough, small and very fatty. The sauce was pure vinegar and had been poured over most of the dish, so much of it had to be left as it was inedible. The mash had no flavour at all, and the broccoli was mush it was so overcooked. Needless to say, we didn't risk the dessert!
This is a real shame - we had such a lovely time before dinner and when we have been before for coffee - but the food really lets it down, especially when you are paying for good food.

I am sorry to learn of the disappointment on your meals, and wish to reassure on some of the areas that left you dissatisfied.
All our breads are baked daily, similarly with our premium meats that are locally sourced and delivered to us on a daily basis. We pride ourselves on preparing all our food for each individual session, to the highest standard. I am genuinely sorry this has not appeared to be the case when having dinner.
I will also revisit the service you received whist dining, as your entire meal would have been replaced had we taken the appropriate action on the feelings you had once served. I regret this opportunity was missed on your visit.
All guests rightfully expect and typically do receive a high standard meal and experience when visiting the Lounge, and I hope we might have another opportunity to see you again.
