“Expensive and not in town centre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

This is an international class hotel with all the facilities you would expect. It has a cosy bar with a log cabin feel. However, it is very expensive, and it is an inconvenient 20 minute walk uphill from the town centre, harbour and museum - not fun if it is raining. If you want to save money and don't mind shared facilities, probably Mary Ann's Polarrig would be a better deal, and it is more central.

It's a nice and short walk from the city center to this hotel. The view fom there is really good.
Food is tasty, service is friendly, young and motivated. I had a Greek Salad which was really good, followed by an excellent chicken with potatoes and vegetables. All in all a really nice and relaxing evening with excellent food!

Longyearbyen has a frontier town feel and surrounded by stunning wilderness so to expectactions of the hotels was not high. Upon entry to the hotel you are met by very friendly staff and very comfortable welcoming and tastefully decorated public rooms. The bedrooms are functional but have what you need and are nice and clean. After five days in a tent it was luxury! It's a ten minute walk into 'town' and if you can't manage that the Radisson is in the centre. Breakfast was excellent with a very wide selection catering for just about any taste.

The airport shuttle bus stops at the door so no problems getting here.

I would agree with another guests comments that in a summer when the sun doesn't set they do need better black out curtains or blinds.

Its not kuxury but youre in Svarlbard! Recommended.

Room Tip: Views are at the front.

A very nice hotel with all mod cons and good food. Downside is the long walk up the hill. Staff efficient, very knowledgeable and friendly. Food in bar and breakfast very good. Great views from front bedrooms.

This hotel, at the top of the hill in Longyearbyen, has excellent views! The breakfast was great. The food in the hotel dining room is good, but very expensive. There is some reasonable lunch and basic meal options at the bar. The windows could benefit from some blackout blinds. The lighting in the room was inadequate for reading. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and efficient.

Very pleasant hotel situated on the edge of Longyearbyen within walking distance of the small town centre. The room was rustic and spacious with a decent en-suite. The breakfast was excellent and the hotels public areas were charming. We would certainly stay there again.

If you are going to Svalbard, this is the place to stay if you are interested in a very clean, classy and cozy hotel that is a short walk from town. Having not been to Longyearbyen before I chose the hotel on the internet because of the price and the reviews and do not regret it for a second. The staff was top notch and friendly, the rooms were spotless (cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at), beds comfortable, nice view of the mountains out the back, fantastic breakfast included in the price (eggs, bacon, sausage, make your own waffles, fresh breads, fruit, yogurt, etc) and a relaxing, quiet atmosphere. It was a great place to come home to after doing various nature/boat trips during the two days we were there. We ate in the restaurant our last night and were thoroughly impressed with the food. It was as good or better than any of the better restaurants in Copenhagen (where we live.) Can't think of any negatives about the place!

Room Tip: We stayed in a room facing the back which was very quiet and had a nice view of the mountains.
