Description: Great food. Packed with guests. Barentz Pub & Spiseri has happy prices and an unpretentious menu. We also serve a daily special - home cooking made with love for visitors and locals alike. 'Puben' has offers great prices and an unpretentious menu, including a daily 'husmannskost' special from NOK 99 - hearty Norwegian food made from scratch. The pub is a favourite with everyone, locals and visitors alike. The pub is where you'll meet the locals. This is where people go when the working day is over to have a pint, chat with neighbours, enter a quiz or just for dinner.

“The northernmost bar in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

Fantastic pub, just inside of the Radisson Blu Polar hotel. Great selection of Norwegian beers on draft as well as various types of aquavit, a seemingly harmless looking Scandinavian liquor that takes no prisoners.

The bar has a lovely atmosphere; dark decor but subtly lit to make it feel warm and inviting, contrasting with the Arctic winter and polar night outside.

The food menu is perfect for casual dining; pizzas, pasta and burgers. Judging by the number of burgers coming out to diners - many of whom are locals - they must be pretty good (the burgers, as well as the locals). There is a also a series of daily specials, listed on a board for the following seven days. These are hearty, filling meals at a rather attractive price; today's was pasta carbonara for NOK99 (approx £10/EUR12) - it was a huge bowl of tagliatelle with a thick, sticky cream sauce and loads of crispy pieces of cooked ham, topped off with lashings of freshly chopped parsley and parmesan. It tasted fab and was very good value.

The staff are very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, particularly on music. They have an incredible music library playing, with each of the bar staff having their own preferences - one day it can be electronica, another US alt rock, another the rat pack. Perhaps the best has to be Odd's choice of music that encompasses Queens of the Stone Age, Echo and the Bunnymen, Pearl Jam, Interpol and the Stone Roses. The man is a walking jukebox of cool tunes.

If you're in Longyearbyen and not staying at the Radisson, check out Barentz. Cooler than Mr Cool McCool on a cold day. This is the northernmost bar in the world which is so cool, it's colder than the weather outside.

“Daily lunch/dinner with good price-quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Barentz is a pub just in the end of the downtown next to the up-market Radisson hotel. It serves daily lunch/dinner from 11 am to 8 pm with 99 NOK, i.e about 12 EUR / 15 USD. This is a fair price in Longyearbyen. The quality for that price is right. Some of the barmen know many entertaining tricks such as throwing bottles, glasses etc in the air - and catchin them as well.

“Liked it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Not the fastest service in town, but the place is worth a visit. Nice staff and atmosphere, good food. We had the barentzburger, the salmon filet with purè of potatoes and the chocolate pudding. Everything was quite good and well presented, although maybe a little bit overpriced, for Longyearbyen standards. Would eat here again anyway.

“Great Northern Bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

It is a cozy place with a friendly staff. It is a bit over-priced, but, there is not much choice in this tiny town. The food is good and they take euro, kroner and sometimes $$. The beer is excellent.
