We stayed here during a whirlwind tour of the Irish coast in 2009. We were two families, each with a young child (1 yr and 2 yrs old), which I think is not ideal for this B&B because this is a place of utter peace and tranquility--not a place for crying babies. Nancy did everything possible to help and accommodate our needs with the children, and or fears that this could be a disaster for us and the others who were forced to stay with us in this 4-5 guestroom house were quickly dispelled. Moran's Farmhouse was by far and away our most favorite location on our trip to Ireland.
We initially wanted to stay at the famous Iskeroon nearby, and were recommended by its owner to call Nancy when we found out there was no availability there for us. In comparison, Moran's Farmhouse is significantly cheaper, and we were worried that the rooms would be not be comfortable as a result but it turned out to be perfect (recently renovated and refurbished). We had a room with a view of the many pastures and then the sea below. We absolutely loved to go for walks in the area, or just to sit in the spacious garden in front of the house and simply enjoy the view and environment. We even had the good fortune to awake our first morning to the famous Irish fog (we couldn't see 10 feet in front of us when looking out the window) which thankfully disappeared by mid day.
All in all, value for money, this really was the best place we stayed on our trip. You absolutely cannot beat the setting. Moran's farmhouse is perfect for individuals or couples who just want absolute peace and quiet amid the postcard like Irish coast. Warning--This is not a place for young people looking for city like ammenities or entertainment. For people with young children, Nancy is able to accomodate you, but it seems this is not the ideal place for all involved. And for families with older children, the kids will need to be willing to explore outside and have long periods of quiet to read or play games.
I would heartily encourage anyone traveling the Irish coast to stop for a short time here. Its a memory that our family will always cherish and really was the "real Ireland" we were looking for.
