One of the very rare times we wonder about TA reviews.
Positive: proximity to some of the best beaches on the island and Tinos town, outside space is beautiful, rooms are very clean and the owners are very polite.
Nevertheless, our stay there was no bed of roses.
First of all, our room was dark, with small windows you had to keep shut in order not to be seen from outside, full of old furniture, traditional one may say, but also worn. It seems like they have never done a proper, complete renovation; that they replace gradually, every single item in a room one by one, when it is really, really worn. In this way, the room had an old TV, a very old sofa but a new table and chairs next to it, while our bathroom had some broken tiles and mirror but they had added a new style-wall around the shower above those tiles without replacing them.
The bathroom in general was clean but not in great shape. You actually had to switch the boiler on and wait for the water to heat up. I have not seen anything like this since the 90ies. Especially in Greece with all this sun (solar heaters). The worst of all is that after we switched the heater off, and touch the shower, we felt a bit stinging in our hands when we touched the shower. Unfortunately, we only discovered it late on the first evening and we intended to leave soon anyway. We had met a couple in the hotel and asked them the next day if they had any problems with their room without telling them anything and they referred to the same problem-but said it only happened to them only when they touched the shower tube alone.
Moreover, our room did not have a sea view even though in their brochure they implied that all of them have. We only had a small window on the side, where you could see a small part of the view through the balcony of another room and the garden. We had a lovely patio though. But it was in the middle of the property, right next to the stairs and the reception, so we felt like we would have no privacy or we would annoy other tenants if we sat there.
Finally, we did not experience high service like tours on the island or tips on places to visit apart from a tiny map drawn in hand that was left in our room with marked places without any info about them-when we asked for a proper map, they did not have any to give away and had to look for one in the town.
Overall, I find prices too high for what they offer. We have stayed in this island many times and we know that accommodation in general is not of the same standard like in other islands Mykonos, Santorini etc but it is possible to find something nice and of good value. On the same period, we had paid exactly the same amount per night in –the known to be expensive- Santorini for a room twice the size of this one, with two bedrooms, new furniture, hot water, swimming pool and American breakfast. More to say?
