Well. How do you start after a wonderful holiday. First time in Crete for Mandy and me could not have been better. We arrived at Annisarras hot and tired to be welcomed by the inimitable Tassos and MArina, the owners. After a handshake and welcome we were shown to our room (number 26 when you go there) and Tassos explained how to use the key in broken English. Inside the room is comfortable, very clean and spacious. Air conditioning was a little feeble but just needed re-charging with gas. twin beds were frim and comfy too. Onto the balcoiny and the most glorious view down over Annisarras. There was a nice welcome of 6 large bottles of cold water in the room to start you off, they were available at the bar at 6 for €3. The beach is no more than 10 minutes lazy stroll away with Mikes supermarket so you can stock up on essentials. Down to the pool with it's very well stocked and cheap bar for a swim. The pool is big enough and spotless with sunbeds and tables all around so you can follow the raging sun (or shade). The bus stop is 5 minutes away if you wish to sample the bright lights, but that wasn't for us. The smell of Jasmine and the calling criskets is so magical. Food at the bar is Marinas forte. It was always very good with beautiful salads, wonderful Greek omelettes and a very wide selection to choose from. After you have eaten, every night, Tassos, Marina or one of their family bring a bowl of fresh watermelon, honeydew melon and grapes all grown on the premises. He often picks the grapes while you wait. Also he brought us fresh figs while we swam and longed. The cretan barbecue held on Thursdays is a winner. Fantastic choice of meat and salads followed by, in my case, bad greek dancing and Raki to finish the night off. The Olympic holiday rep Jimmy, bless him, was a gem We booked a trip to Chrissi Island on the south coast. Go there, It's a paradise on earth, turquoise crystal water and beaches that go on forever. Everyone flocked to the "Golden Beach" on the north side which was packed. We stayed on the south beach which was empty. See the pictures attached! All in all this was a fantastic holiday and Villa Marina is a little gem. We will be going back. One person has been back 28 times! That must tell you something. Thanks Marina ans Tassos, we will be back as soon as we can.
