Just got home from a perfect holiday in this lovely hotel situated in a superb location.
I shall start my review about the hotel first, it is all inclusive(AL) which starts at 11a.m up until 11p.m, the bar is still open after this time but you do have to pay for any drinks. The drinks included in AL are soft drinks, water, local beer ,wine, brandy, ouzo and raki any other alcohol you will have to buy, including cocktails. The bar staff are so welcoming and good fun who work extremely hard, thanks Gregorio and Nikoli it was a pleasure to meet you both!
The food in the hotel is really lovely, all freshly cooked traditional Greek dishes, there is a lot of variety and the menu alters daily. If you are a burger and chips type of person then this hotel is not for you. We like the fact that its Greek food we are trying and not your typical Brit food. The staff who work in the dining area are lovely particually Eva who is warm and friendly. The catering staff do a brilliant job, thank-you!
Our room had a lovely large balcony with beautiful views over the sea. The room was spotless, cleaned daily, towels where changed daily and I lost count of the amount of times the cleaner changed our bedding. Rooms have a fridge and air conditioning which are free, there is a safe which is charged ten pounds per week. My only criticism is the air con needs to be better(we went in September and found it not cold enough so I imagine in July/August it to be very uncomfortable) shower needs an update as does the toilet seat but that is a tiny point to make!
There are two beautiful pool areas, one with childrens slides and the other situated next to the main hotel, both pools have plenty of beds(no need to grab a bed at 7a.m), they are really clean and tidy surrounded by palm trees that give plenty of shaded areas if needed.
The Hotel has lots of different nationalities mainly Russians and not many English but this really did not bother us.
The location of the Hotel is absolutely perfect, about a 10min walk to star beach. Starbeach is a must! It is situated on the beach front with numerous pools, bars to choose from. This is a large complex that is free to go into. It has a waterpark (8 euro per person), foam party daily in the summer months, lots of water sports if that's your thing. They do charge for sunbeds both on the beach and on the pool areas but you can just have a walk about and go for a drink which we did regularly. I would highly recommend it!
A further 10 min walk from here you hit the town of Hersonissos, this town has something to offer for everyone. There are some really lovely situated bars along the beach front with lovely views, if you want it more lively then go a bit further into the town for the night clubs, which where a bit wild for us but worth a visit. I could imagine it be very busy and wild in July and August but its such a large place that there is something for everyone if you want to avoid it.
Our favourite place was Agios Nikolaos, we caught the bus from the main road, its a 40min ride and the buses come every 30mins. Its a coastal town that has a port but the main life is around the lake which is surrounded and overlooked by cafes and restaurants, its busy tourist place that is beautiful.
Overall we had a brilliant time! This hotel has received a lot of negative comments on trip advisor which we found to be unfounded all I would say is that it is a three star and I think this is reflected in this price compared to a four star, if you expect four star then you need to pay the extra money!
A big thank-you to all the staff who work extremely hard here we fully appreciate it so much so that we are looking at booking for next year. Thanks for making our holiday so special from Jen&Dame
