“Wow this hotel lives up to its name.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

This hotel is fantastic very clean, friendly the food is lovely so much choose from. The staff are just brilliant, they all work very hard, you get to know some better than others. Eleni was the waitress at breakfast and lunch and she was very good at her job, friendly, had good knowledge of places to visit and always smiling, nothing was to much trouble for her, outstanding worker. The two georges are very good and Nicholas. I could go on to mention more but it will take to long, animation team work so hard to keep everyone entertained. This hotel is run lile clockwork and it shows, we were very lucky to have had two barbecue nights, that is fantastic well worth the 7€ . The only gripe I've got is the all inclusive finishes to early & not a lot going on in the evening. Bar staff very good and friendly. Had a great time would highly recommend this hotel.

We were here for 1 week at the end of August on honeymoon. We stayed all inclusive in a 'superior' room. We have been to Crete before and wanted to go back, this time treating ourselves by spending 3 or 4 times what we normally would.

Location - The location is between Stalis and Hersonissos, both easily reachable on the local buses. The bus services were reliable and good value. Both towns full of tourist shops and bars. The larger port town of Heraklion was also worth a visit for its old buildings and shopping (Zara, H&M and other high street stores!). We visited the waterpark and did the happy train trip into the mountains - both were fantastic days out.

Room - We were a little disappointed with the room. It was clean and had everything we needed including a large balcony (400 block) but we weren't exactly blown away considering the amount we paid! It had 2 single wooden beds! It would have been perfect if we had been on a regular cheaper holiday but not the 'superior' room we were expecting, sorry!

Hotel - Large and exceptionally clean with 4 large pools. The trouble was that from 6am it was impossible to get a sunbed as every one of them was reserved with towels. The 'waterpark' (4 large slides) didn't open until 11am so we stood at the gates most days in order to get a sunbed! I suppose this is a problem you get in a lot of European hotels. There were 3 computers available for guest use but you had to pay 3 euros a day for an internet password and we found it impossible to get on one due to queues of children sitting on them all day. The password also worked on mobile devices but the signal was so weak and unreliable that we gave up paying for it after day 2. I think in this day and age that is something which really needs sorted. The spa facilities were lovely but all at an additional cost. All of the staff were very friendly.

Food - The buffet food was fantastic and had something for everyone. Between meals the all inclusive choice was very limited to poor quality hot dogs (like those from a can!), burgers (again budget quality), very basic cheese toasties and chips from one pool bar which was up a very steep hill. The all inclusive alcohol was extremely watered down unless you got to know a particular member of staff. There were 2 'a la carte' restaurants on site, the 'Greek' one was delicious and we enjoyed it but didn't serve anything particularly Greek which was rather odd - we had lamb shank and chicken breast. Not a stifado or kleftico in sight! The pizzeria was ok for a change but very limited choice and nothing special.

Overall this hotel would be great if you were travelling with children. The location is convenient and the on-site food and entertainment is suitable for families. As a honeymoon it was too busy and that little bit of luxury was missing. Considering the cost (over £2000 for 1 week) we don't think we will be back as a couple but would recommend it to those travelling with children if you could get it at a good price.

We stayed here for the last two weeks of August and there are only positives with this resort. Food was excellent and with the all inclusive option you have one visit per week included to the A La Carte restaurant and the Pizzeria. You can also order packed lunches if you are going out for the day. There are 4 pools to choose from including the waterpark for the kids. The spa is also fantastic offering superior treatments to those available in England with good value packages for children also. The hotel is very clean and all the staff work really hard and are really friendly (especially Anna in the main pool bar).
I think it is worth paying for the room upgrade if you are a family as there is a partition giving you two rooms in one. The superior rooms are located by the main pool (106, 107 and 108 are the best rooms), so you don't need to climb the steep hill. Also, you get tokens to do your washing so you can come back with a suitcase full of clean clothes.
The temperature was hot but there is nearly always a good breeze. If you want to go snorkelling, go down to the Nano Beach Hotel. You can't always swim here if it's too windy and the red flags are up.
Stallis and Hersonissos are a short walk away and I think it is better to walk rather than go by bus as you see more. Malia is a short bus ride away but if you get the bus, make a note of the bus stop number where you get on so you know where to get off.
Spinalonga (the old Leper colony) is also a good trip to go on but take water with you as there are no shops or toilets on the island.
The airport at Heraklion is very small and queues are managed outside so this would be the only negative if there was a delay with return flights.

Room Tip: The best rooms are the superior family rooms by the main pool. You need to pay for an upgrade but f...

Looking for a hotel that is clean, has a great animation team, good food, very friendly staff, situated in a quit area outside Chersonissos and Malia, 4 stars, extra service from the Neckermann hosts Joost and Danny, direct acces to public transport etc etc....... You've found your next destination. We stayed in this hotel 8 years ago and now again 2 weeks in August and we enjoyed our stay very much. A great hotel to feel at home immediately.

Room Tip: The family rooms are located near the main pool. THE hotel is situated on à hillside and although tr...

All positives with this hotel and only two words of warning ! Cant say anymore than all the other reviews regarding the staff, food, cleanliness of accommodation and grounds, variety of swimming pools, activities, shows. All excellent. Was particularly impressed with the the Al a carte restaurant which you can visit as part of your package once within the week.
Words of warning - we booked a superior room but were really disappointed. It had lovely new furniture but the balcony was tiny. Could hardly get a small table and two chairs comfortably around it. No room for our teenage daughter. Also we were unfortunate to get the ground floor on a corner with no view at all of anything apart from a block wall and hedge! Sure it was the worst outlook of all the rooms! Next morning asked to move and the staff were very accommodating. We moved to a standard room with a fantastic view and large spacious balcony.
Although the brochure calls itself a spa hotel the whirlpool, sauna and steam room are all extras. Didn't worry us but think worth mentioning.
Big thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Superior rooms may not necessarily be better. Check the location if you can.

We have today returned from our 10 day stay at this really lovely hotel! We really could have stayed longer. The hotel was just out a bit from hersonnissos and situated on a hill. Beautiful scenery and in a quiet location. Suitable for families and those wanting to relax.
All the staff were welcoming and friendly... the food fantastic albeit the all inclusive finishing at 10-30 pm although by this time we had eaten and drank enough!
There were daily activities by the entertainment team who were not pushy at all. Loved stretching in the morning with Agnes!
Our room was kept very clean and overlooked the middle pool and sea. It was on the middle if the complex..quite a steep little walk which we didnt mind but if you struggle a bit they provide transport to your rooms. A car is always available.
The only thing that was a pain was the sunbed situation.... you had to be up by 7-30am to get one! Not sure how the hotel can rectify this as nobody takes any notice of the sign stating sunbeds are not allowed to be reserved.
On our last evening one of our regular waiter nikolas (looks like a young John Travolta) gave us a gift. Olive oil produced by his family! Cant wait to try it.
Our taxi was booked to pick us up at 2-30am to take us to the airport by a very nice man (handsome too!) on reception and he organised a breakfast prepared for us, im sorry I cant remember his name as we were very touched by this!
I will be going back for sure. Thankyou the grand hotel for making our holiday :))

Just returned from our holiday we knew it was a good resort as we had been there last year and did not disappoint this year. The staff yet again where very friendly one member of staff made lunch and dinner times a pleasure. This was visilis what an asset to the place he is.The room was clean comfortable and a good size.My son was very impressed with the water park but I missed the volleyball court. The Animation Team where friendly and not pushy trying to get us to join in the games. The evening shows where good but could have been better maybe if they could sing live, act and dance the only one that could dance and had any talent was lynsey she always seemed to have energy in what she done.
