“Only one problem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Me and my wife have just spent a week at Marni village which we chose after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed,we arrived approx 11pm,on checking in the Manager was very nice and helpful even giving us a lift up to our room, with it being late we quickly made our way down to the bar for a night cap,the bar-staff were very friendly especially the barman(think he was called Manos) who treat you like a friend. the room we stopped was a junior suite which was quite clean and tidy and had a double and a single bed which was big enough for two,the kitchen was descent with i think a three ring hob and an oven and a fridge and enough cutlery and plates for two but NO toaster .The bathroom was quite small but not tiny but big enough. only problem was the shower leaked a bit but it didn't really bother us like it seams to bother other people and yes the phone is in the bathroom(as someone twisted about) but so what it had a long cord on and how many times are you gonna use it.The village itself is lovely and clean with great views and is very well kept as is the gardens and pools.Plenty of people have commented about the hill at Marni and yes it is steep,if you have walking problems you may struggle but we didn't mind as the bar is half way. All the staff are pleasant and nearly always say hello. The Marni village is well situated for the 3 villages which are lovely and have lots of very good restaurants(didn't have a bad meal). The only one problem we had was with the beds rockbloodyhard,we didn't have one good nights sleep(other people did say theirs were ok),yes maybe we should have seen the manager but with the place being busy we didn't think he would be able to do anything.would we go back ohh yes we loved this place but a softer mattress please.Chris and Andrea from Durham

Room Tip: Better newer rooms at top of the hill

I stayed at Marni for a wee as a last minute booking away from work. Cannot fault it! The apartment was great. Cleaned daily and linen changed twice during my stay. The reception were very helpful and welcoming. I was taken to my apartment on a late arrival. Straight to the bar for a beer and met Manos. Great guy and host for the duration of my stay. Elenor and Anna were great too. The three of them made my stay! I will bd back. I met some great people and the owner was very welcoming. Even bought me a beer. The food was great as were thr chefs. Katarina was lovely and came to say goodbye. Thanks to all at Marni. There is also so much to do around and see. Would recommend this hotel to everyone.

after not being able to go for 2 years we are going back to marni village this year. This place is heaven. The appartments are spotless the pools are so clean and you don't have to get up before sunrise to get a sunbed!!!.The staff are beyond helpful and the peace and quiet is wonderful. The big excitement for us was watching the goats go accross the mountains ha ha .To some this place may sound boring but trust me you will come home so chilled and wanting to go back .Can't wait for August.

There is a lovely bakery outside the hotel where we got fresh bread each morning. We hired a moped (lots of competition, so makes it cheap at 50euro for 5 days) which allowed us to get around more, as the nice beaches are quite a walk away. Also meant we could get our food from Lidls! I recommend Stalis beach. The restaurants in Koutouloufari are absolutely amazing, Greek food is the best! The hotel pools are lovely and clean, we had them to ourselves most evenings. Apartments are cleaned daily, staff are very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble, any little problems (with the electricity!) are sorted within 5 minutes. I would definitely go back here and recommend to all friends.

Stayed in marni village in june/july 2012. We booked through teletext and had a transfer to the hotel after a night time flight. Arriving to marni in the early hours of the morning we were met by Nikos who was extremely friendly and welcoming. He explained to us there was an electrical fault in the standard room we had booked for 7days, and as a result we were upgraded to a superior room for the night and given complimentary air conditioning for the whole week (as in most places this comes at an extra cost.) As marni is situated on a steep hill they drove us to our room nearer to the top of the hill which was great. During the week fresh sheets and towels were changed regularly, the main pool bar has excellent staff and serves good food for a quick lunch. We liked to go out in the evening to koutouloufari or hersonissos and a taxi back to marni from the harbour cost only 7euros. In marni village there were 3 pools to choose from surrounded by beautiful gardens. Just opposite the hotel was a small shop and bakery which was great for fresh bread and had everything you would need. DEFINITELY worth visiting and have already booked a second trip back this year!!

Have stayed in Marni Village 3 times and no matter where else we go, Marni is still our favourite place. It is magical from the lovely, friendly staff to the beautiful gardens and the way it is laid out like a little village full of interesting nooks and crannies. Choice of pools is great and the main bar pool does lovely home made food - try the mixed omelette! Our apartment this year was beside the little playground with a huge balcony. Our 2 year old loved it and had such freedom to play.

Koutouloufari is a beautiful village and has a lovely choice of restaurants - personal favourites include emmanuels (beautiful food), alchemist (hospitality second to none), stekis etc Sad that the lovely Rustico was closed down this year. Supermarket across from Marni has literally everything you will need albeit in a compact space. The bakery next door is brilliant and the bread and rolls are tasty and fresh. We even took some home with us and baklava and were glad of them the next morning after a late flight. Crete is a lovely island with so much to explore. The local bus service to Iraklion and further afield is great and it is worth doing some tours to really get to see the Island. I could go on but all I'll say is you will not find a nicer place to stay than Marni Village - the only problem is nowhere else will measure up and you'll just keep wanting to return.

Room Tip: Apartments beside playground are quiet and secluded but are near entrance so less of a walk.
