“Ok but not the 5* it was advertised as.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

I went to Annabelle Village with my husband & 11 year old son at the beginning of August 2011 for 2 weeks. We chose this hotel as it was advertised as a 5*, it was very clear when we got to our room that it was'nt. I have stayed in hotels all over the world & the family room we had although big enough was no way 5* standard, it was no more than 3*, The balony was tiny & only had a small table & 2 chairs so we could'nt sit out of an evening as a family which we like to do. There was air con & a fridge but other than that the rooms are very basic.
Annabelle Village is a mainly all inclusive hotel but we went half board & seemed to get much better service. It's buffet style meals which can be a bit uncivilised at times but as we were half board we could order our drinks & have them brought to our table. All inclusive guests have to get their own. The variety & standard of food however was excellent. Plenty to choose from & great for kids. Personally we would have prefered waiter service which i would expect when paying for a 5* hotel but it was'nt as bad as other buffet style hotels i have been too.
A great choice of pools, we especially enjoyed the pool near the beach where my son played the water basketball every day. The main grumble was that selfish guests reserved sunbeds & this was not stopped by the hotel staff. One morning I got up early & went to this pool, nearly all the beds had towels on but i was the only person at the pool for nearly an hour. Some people did'nt turn up for over 2 hours. This sort of behaviour makes me so angry as it spoills what should be an enjoyable time. The animation team as a lot of other reviews have said were outstanding, the pool activities were great to watch even if you did'nt participate & the Annabelle Olympics were an absolute scream! Must mention Joshua who gained more & more injuries & bandages as each day passed but still continued to give 100%.
There is evening entertainment from the animation team down near the beach but we spent our evenings at the lobby bar. Fantastic service from Maria who looked after our every need & taught us some greek too. All inclusive guests had to get there drinks from the bar but as half boarders we got service at our table & had free bowls of snacks with our drinks which was a nice touch that all inclusive guests did'nt get.
On the whole we had a good holiday but I would say this hotel is no more than a 4* & the rooms no more than 3*. The plus for us was that Brits were in the minority, there were more Russians, Italians, Germans & other european nationals which gave it a more continental feel which was good.
The issue with reseving sunbeds needs to be addressed as this definately got worse as our holiday went on & if the hotel wants to present itself as 4/5* it needs to encourage its guests to act more civilised.
Would have prefered waiter service in the restaurant & they also need to be stricter with the dress code. There is a dress code for the evening meal but lots of people ignored this. It lowers the tone if people do not follow the dress code & it is much nicer when people make the effort to dress for dinner.
Its not a bad hotel & is great for families. We would'nt go back but we have never gone back to the same place twice as we like to try new places.

Food was very good, nice rooms, nice pools (but no chairs to sit on by the roofed pool), nice beach but sea isn't accessible beacuse of rocks and constant big waves! many stairs and no elevators. that's a problem when having a stroller with a baby..we had to make a bypass to get to the dining room but there is no bypass to the upper pool.
we ordered two family rooms with baby and small kids and yet they put us apart on a second floor (with stairs). only after two days of searching they found us two close rooms with a shared small garden.
close to the pool there is a children's club that was closed earlier then promised, and another one only for russian kids!! my kid wasn't allowed to enter there. how should i explain her that she is not allowed because she is not russian?
many noisy crickets.

I stayed at Annabelle Village with my parents and 14 year old brother for a week and we had a great time. Our room was clean and accommodating, and the hotel staff were very friendly and approachable. The food was varied, very nice and there was always plenty.
Also, the facilities were great and there were always activities going on around the pool to keep everyone entertained. The activities were led by the animation team, who made the holiday memorable. They were very friendly and put on excellent shows at night. The shows were funny and the audience were always involved thanks to Luca, Martina, Joshua and Moreno who did a great job.

Well when do I start.... this is my sixth year in a row to Annabelle Village, and every year it lives up to its expectations! The hotel management are absolutely amazing, so friendly, approachable and always on hand to help! Every single staff at the hotel is caring and ready to help! Prior to this, the Chef's food is fantastic and cooked to the highest standards, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is such an array of food, so there is something for everyone!!(You can also enjoy a 5 course meal down at the Taverna in the evenings on week days)
The rooms, are cleaned everyday without fail and are also maintained to the highest of standards! each room has its own bathroom complete with a shower and bath, and has air conditioning, which can be changed to suit you! The rooms also include a fridge, hair dryer, shower gels, towels, furniture for your terrace/ balcony and on site laundry service. The Reception staff are always there 24/7 and speak many languages to communicate with everyone of their guest!
There are different pools to suit what type of Holiday you want, you have the top pool (two pools) situated near to the main reception which has a swim up bar, and is more of a quiet relaxing pool, there is also a childrens pool up the top too, safe for young children to play in, then there is the Bottom pool, which has activities such as Water Basket, Aqua Aerobics etc (run by the animation team)... but is quiet between 1pm to 3:30pm. There is also another childrens pool. The Beach is then a few meters! and has a lovely breeze all day to keep you cool!
In the evenings, near to the bottom pool and Beach Bar there is a outdoor thearte, which holds a show each night directed by the animation team, apart from Thursdays when it is Greek Night (which is great to get involved in). however if that is not what you want, then you can have a quiet drink up at the Lobby Bar!
This takes me to the animation Team, they were absolutely brilliant, they were so lively, up beat and friendly! they spoke lots of different languages so that they could communicate with everyone! they were fantastic, the best set of Animators there have eve r been!! They were so animated about what they did, and made my holiday! They kept me entertained and were always up for a laugh! utterly amazing people, every single one of them!!! :)!! (Please go back there next year!! )
Anyways this is long enough! I must go, however i would thoroughly recommend this hotel over and over! Fantastic place and a short walk into the main town! Brilliant, thank you to all the staff and animation team for making me holiday the best yet! I'm looking forward to next year already!

We visited this hotel 9 years ago and not much had changed but trust me that was a good thing. It was great to be back. Some of the staff here have been here a long time - i immediately recognised Maria on reception who is always smiling and happy to help. We decided to go Half Board which i think was the best option as the all inclusive people got non branded or inferior quality food and drink! The rooms are fantastic - slept 4 perfectly with own little garden space, air con (WHICH WAS SO QUIET), a fridge. The bathrooms need updating but speaking with Theo (MANAGER) this is in the plan for the end of the season. The pools are great. Top pool slightly quieter than the bottom pool. There are quite a few steps to navigate but this hotel is a perfect family get away. We didnt really leave the hotel - it has everything. I MUST make a special mention to 3 members of staff though. XENIA worked in the bars and gave the best service EVER received in a hotel - she spoke to us all including the children making them feel so welcome - the kids said that they thought she was the best and that is good enough for me. Truly SUPERB! KOSTAS in the taverna never stopped smiling, excellent service and very welcoming - made us all feel so at home. IRINI - charming, loved her work and always had a smile - just brilliant. The evening entertainment was slightly ropey but it really didnt matter...............well done to all at the Hotel for making this a great holiday!
