my husband, son and myself stayed at the serita beach in auguts 2007, we had origanally been booked into a 4* hotel but got upgraded to this one. Well first impression were good but they got better. The hotel was lovely very very clean the food was good and it even had a pizza bar on site. As for the entertainment that was fab something different every evening and also entertainment through the day for kids and adults from water gym to volley ball on the beach, ping pong and a great kids club . the staff and amination team deserve a pat on the back they are are wonderful fun loving people and we would definatley go back again and stay there. Hope everyone will still be there.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The only thing in it's favour was the food, and even that wasnt great. My idea of a weeks holiday is probably different to a lot of people that have rated this hotel on this website. If you want to sit by the pool, chill out, read a book, RELAX, don't come here. The place reminded me of a cross between an 80's cruise ship and butlins! I think the thing is, i wanted to go to Greece to appreciate some of the Greek culture, see a bit of the island, chill out and generally unwind but the fact that you've paid all inclusive makes it difficult to then go and spend money in any one of the beautiful beach fronted tavernas. And dont get me started on the chumps that organise the entertainment. All in all pretty disappointing, however Crete is beautiful.

Staff:
Rude reception staff who were totally unhelpful and dismissive. However, cleaners did a great job. Wiaters/waitresses varied in niceness. Entertainment team were all nice, all be it a little annoying at times.

Facilities:

Main Restaurant: Well laid out, but food uninteresting except for the salads and fresh fruit.

Poolside taverna: Served great pizzas. You have to book it for lunch and/or dinner, 24 hours in advance.

Pool: Dreadful... tiles around poolside were so slippy we saw 2 nasty accidents with small children, one of which required several stitches to the head. Many people slipped over during their stay. Tiles in the pool had sharp edges. .. many children cut their feet if they were not wearing shoes. Water not particularly clean and not regularly cleaned during the day so lots of floating "stuff". One chap we met from England was approached by a foriegn boy holding a plastic cup which contained "faeces" !!!! The bloy claimed it came out of the pool !!!
Not enough sunbeds. We had to get up at about 8am to ensure we got a bed and more importantly, got one under shade.

Rooms:
Tired, shabby, cramped. Balcony's held no privacy as there were no real barriers between each one. Air conditioning out of date and TV channels were rubbish. Beds were hard, towells were scratchy. May have looked smart when first built 15 years ago, but desperately in need of make over now.

In a nutshell, we would not recommend this hotel.

I recently stayed at the Serita Beach Hotel with my wife, my daughter and her friend (both 13). Everyone had a great time and enjoyed what was provided.
First comment though is that this is not a 5 star hotel in terms of its exclusivity or sophistication. It serves too large a customer base for this. It does however provide a good standard of service in most areas. The food was varied and and there was certainly the opportunity to have balanced diets/healthy options (even thougn on holiday!). The resturant and bar staff were exceptionally friendly and obliging, and they never liked to see us without food or drink. My daughter rated the entertainment as great and throught he animators were 'quality' (whatever that means!) The beach front was restricted because of the rocks but the jetty was a good facility as were the sun bathing 'pods' (never seen these before) and there was basic snorkeling possible. We liked the beach front at night when it was quiet. There was a bit of noise when the entertainmnet was on but this didn't go past midnight and sleeping was never a problem. The rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaners were helpful. Even though the hotel was fully booked it never felt hectic or over crowded so the facilites provided are certainly adequate for the numbers catered for.
Just two down points: first, we had to share a room for the four of us which was crowded at times. Second, the water sports offered by the hotel are actually at the sister hotel Rinela Beach Hotel which is served by a courtesy bus once a day. This wasn't very convenient.
In summary, we had a great time and we would certainly recommend the hotel to any family going 'all inclusive'.

Upon arriving at the hotel at 4am their time, with my daughter (7) and my partner, I was extreemly dissapointed with the room and was moved - air conditioning not working, fridge in middle of room with TV on top and too small to accommodate 3 people. No porter to help with luggage, no towels for the sunbeds, no toileterries in the bathroom, bathroom rusty in numerous places. Every morning, people were in reception complaining about their rooms. Friendly staff and excellent entertainment programme for the children. However, only 2 choices of restaurant and both buffet. Swimming pool (salt water) area is a dangerzone waiting for a fatality. On an hourly basis people were slipping over and one little boy was taken to hospital and had to have stiches. Beach is shale and watersports are in another hotel via coach. Very dissapointed as promoted online as 5 star. I will be writing to the hotel head office.
