Kalimpong is one of those forgotten old places which is thankfully off the usual tourist radar. Kalimpong park hotel reminds you of a typical English bed and breakfast place. Quaint is the only word which comes to mind. It's old world, with wooden cane furniture and deer trophies on the walls from years of yore.
It is a fair (uphill) walk from the main market via a narrow road. Carry a torch if you venture out in the evening, coz it tends to get dark quickly. The hotel itself is well run, nice cute bar, a small dining area and bespoke dinners if you are on MAP plan.
The beauty of Kalimpong and the Park hotel is that not much happens around here, and you can let lazy afternoons envelope you while you get engrossed in a good book.
Definitely worth a trip. Don't forget to pick up a bottle of red hot chilly pickle from the market. Locals call it 'dalle' (worth every penny).
