“"GOOD BUSINESS HOTEL"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

It has very good wifi connectivity and a decent business center. The rooms were spacious and clean. The food was nice. A good hotel for business trips. I liked my stay at Polo Towers. Would love to visit again. Get their best deals by booking through their website: www.hotelpolotowers.com or by contacting them on facebook : https://www.facebook.com/PoloTowers

I visited Hotel Polo Towers a couple of weeks back and was really very impressed with the hospitality and the food. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a good pub and a nightclub. The restaurant Ginger serves multi-cuisine selection. The open air restaurant is a must try. Over all an excellent stay and a nice place to relax.

Stayed in this hotel for 13 nights on business trip in February 2013 in 'Boutique room'. Comparing with other Hotels in Shillong, this property is recommended for everybody particularly business visitors and given excellent rating on relative basis (not absolute basis) for stay at Shillong and not 4 star Hotels in other cities.

On plus side, the location of Hotel is very good. It is walking distance (7-8 minutes by foot) through a back lane to "Police Bazaar"-main tourist market. Alternatively one can take a shared cab which takes only Rs 10 per person for dropping u. Similarly " Golf Course" and "Waders Lake" takes around 12-15 minutes to reach by foot and again Rs 10 by Shared Taxi.

The exterior of Hotel was very good though not awesome.

Morning breakfast was good. Their bakery cakes were very fresh and tasty. I had opted for MAP Plan. Dinner offered under the plan was very elaborate. Food taste was really very good and I enjoyed throughout my stay. Nice Bar area. However the drinks are costly.

Interior of Room was like a good Star Hotel and all facilities provided. But no complimentary welcome items and no personal bar menu within room. Room size pretty decent. Window of Room gave a good view of Hotel from inside and not too noisy. Hotel Manager Sh Mohanty was helpful and also acceded to additional requests. Nice Reception area. Courteous staff. Nice ambiance.

If one is absolute allergic to 'street sound' then one can take a room in back area but then there will be problem of view from window.

Few things where Hotel needs improvement is time taken in Restaurant in serving food as I saw few guests losing their cool on some occasions. Better to give order from Room in advance and then go to the Restaurant. Second hotel management should give more professional training to staff to have smile on their face as they appear to be under some sort of stress.

No major problems for me. One stray incident for which apology was immediately offered by the Hotel Manager. However higher category rooms seems to be bit overpriced. Hotel is undergoing renovation.

Overall a very nice and comfortable stay and recommended for everybody.

nestled centrally in the idyllic and serene surroundings of a picturesque Shillong is this beautiful hotel with a rich tradition reminiscent of its hoary past. The hotel, for sheer want of space does not have the luxuries of a modern day hotel but more than makes up for this shortcoming through impeccable service and the willingness of the staff to help. The rooms are very spacious and well-appointed and the bed-linen and towels in the rooms are spick and span. The food both in the room-service and the restaurant is of a high quality and there is a lot of variety on offer. The breakfast is very matter of fact and needs to be made more sumptuous. The hotel lacks space but probably it may not be out of place to introduce a spa with facilities for massage for the tired guest. The bath-rooms are well-appointed but drainage needs to be looked into.Rooms had heat convectors -what would be better is central heating.

Room Tip: rooms facing the erstwhile polo ground have excellent view

Stayed here for 2 nights along with 3 other couples. Hotel is clearly gone through a modernaisation as seen from the difference in lobby, etc with the rooms. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Bathrooms plumbing leaves a little to be desired as a shower tends to wet the entire wooden floor of the bathroom despite the glass cubicle.

Good service. Open air restaurant is a must try while in shilling. Seriously skip their club/bar though. Dingy n décor belongs to the 1980s (and not in the good retro way). Breakfast is very elementary especially if you compare it to the price u r paying for the room.

Overall, among the top hotels in shillong though slightly on the pricey side when compared to facilities.

We stayed at Polo Towers as recommended by our agent. However the experience was pathetic. We were there on Christmas Eve but there was only one small restaurant actually the bar operating as a restaurant and we did not get a place to sit. Had to have dinner in our room, which took a long while to arrive. The service was slow and not as per the order. Breakfast was served in a makeshift banquet hall which was inadequate for no. of guests and we had to share dirty used tables with other guests as the outlet was highly short staffed.
The room had nothing to talk about, very small, the wash room was dirty and with stains. Yes the hot water flow was good. The hotel failed to keep upto our expectations.

We stayed here as a group in January and used this as a base to visit Cherrapunjee. Service was extremely good and the staff were very helpful accommodating our requests.
Location: The hotel is in a good location, close to the Police Bazaar. Views from the hotel are not scenic, since its located in the town.
Rooms: The rooms all come equipped with heaters (which is really quite nice). Clean, basic, not too soundproof (so you can hear the vendors outside setting up their stalls early in the morning).
Food: The food at the restaurant was good (especially the mustard fish). The breakfast buffet does not have a very large selection but its just the right amount to fill you up before you go sightseeing. They do have a small eatery on the 1st floor -- quite pretty to sit out there on the cold winter nights with a nice warm drink from the bar.
