“Not well-equipped, services were mediocre.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013

The rooms are large and spacious. Cleanliness is average. They had running hot water but did not have good heaters (which is absolutely essential in a place like Shillong during winters). Plus the heaters were charged Rs. 200 extra per night. The service wasn't great and food was overpriced if compared to the rates in restaurants outside the hotel. The guest house is not very popular and its exact location is not easy to find for cab drivers but the locality, generally speaking, is quiet and calm.

The room (E) was huge, and the best feature was the large verandah outside on which the morning sun poured in cheerfully. It was lovely to see the neighbourhood waking up in the mornings...
The beds are comfortable, but the sleep quality tends to get a little disturbed because sound carries in this building, for some reason.
The staff was well meaning, and friendly. Requests for room heaters were dealt with very promptly and efficiently. HOwever, the kitchen service is a little slow. Still, it was acceptable because it was all very well meant.
The location of the place is great. IT is in a quiet locality, and one can walk around the place, and get the feel of a real hill station. This is something that one cannot do in the Police Bazar hotels.

Room Tip: My room, E, was really large, with a huge sunny verandah. Some other rooms have verandahs, but not a...

The rooms are quite spacious and airy. If you feel claustrophobic in poorly ventilated properties- this is the right place for you. The locality is also quite peaceful. One of the major drawback for this guest house is poor service. The response from the staff is very slow.

This guest house is in a residential locality very close to Laitumukhrah and the historic Grotto Chapel. Very peaceful locale and away from the chaos of Police Bazaar and Polo Ground. There are some excellent restaurants in the area: Cafe Shillong and Cafe MOT to name a couple. The staff is friendly and it feels like you are guests in someone's home. The rooms are large and spacious with clean and modern bathrooms. You have to rent heaters during the winter, because it gets very chilly. A few rooms have lovely views of the surrounding hills. They also have food service, but I was too busy eating out to try it. All in all, a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Chapel have a great view.

If you want to travel to siem reap, Do not stay here. Because, here is worst place in siem reap. When i check in, staff did't tell me anything. But i had to check in. Because another guest house did't have room. I check in 20$. It is very expensive. 'Staff told me is tomorrow monning i will have cheaper room.' So i told he is 'okay, i will change the room.' Howerver, the next day he change horse. Have not room, because someone else had booked. I could not understand this. He introduce me another room. I got room 16$. And i asked he. 'Midnight on the day 10, I will go to phnom penh. This is 2 day more right?' He answer 'yeah, 2day more'. I asked he many time. Because i don't know anything and english i do not well. But, all times he answer ' yeah, 2 day more'. So i payed 2 day more. However, for 3 days, they were provided to me only two of water, towel, toothbrush. Did not clean up. Did not provid more. And when i check out...
He told me ' you shuold pay more, you stay here 1day more'. I saw inside the room. 'Notice, check out time is 12am'. but he was asking me for money. Because check out time is 5pm. I asked he 'why did not told me?' His answer? Very funny. 'You did not asking'. I want solve this ploblem.because i shuold go to phnom penh midnight. So i said he. ' you had mistake and i had too, right? So I pay 5dola' But he said 'just your mistake. You pay 60 dola.' Even the bus time drew near, he had threatened me would call the police. What is this play? So i said 'I don't care' and walked out here. If you want travel siem reap. Do not stay here. Even another guest house have not room.
