I had been there with my parents, and my uncles and aunties. Brightlands is a nice and kwel place , The food is wonderful with a lot to choose from. The events in the evenings are very entertaining. The pool is cleaned regularly. The staff is very helpful and cordial. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The resort is close to the market and to Charlotte lake.
OVeralll a nice and fun place for the holidays. We had a great time.

Birghtlands Hotel is situated on the main road, 2 mins walking from the Matheran Railway Station.

We were 6 of us, college friends. There are various room sizes available, and we chose a cottage to live in. It was a duplex cottage, with a double bed each on the ground and the first floors, comfortable enough for 6 of us. The rooms were neat and clean. They charged us Rs 1000 per night.

Not many people used the swimming pool here and when we suggested them that we wanted to get into the pol, it is then that they started cleaning the pool. The food was very expensive. For the breakfast, they charged us Rs. 50 per head for a cup of tea and bread-jam, being a 3-star and all.

The Charlotte lake and the Monkey point are nearby, 10 mins walk from the hotel.

Overall, slightly expensive, but a safe and a good hotel.

The rooms was so dirty. The food was pathetic. Went for the Independance weekend for 3 days. We reached there at 12pm. No one at the counter. The room was dirty and dusty. No one to clean. Even the cleaner behaves as the manager. The problem began in the night when the dinner was horrible. We got to know that a group who advanced booked 3 rooms was given 1 room and 2 servant quarters to stay. They retaliated. All guests fought all night with the manger who was drunk and had no decency. Even the police was called.

WE WERE GIVEN ALL OUR MONEY IN THE MORNING WITH FREE BREAKFAST AND ALL GUESTS LEFT THE HOTEL.

MY 3 DAYS WEEKEND WAS SPOILED IN 1 DAY BECOS OF BRIGHTLAND RESORT.

PLEASE NOTE: This is THE new management SINCE May 2008. THEY ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL MANAGEMENT who maintained the PLACE.

the service was insufficient and the staff was unco-orperative.
all the facilities promised were not really offered.
cleanliness was not up to the standard it should be.
although, good infrastructure.

i would not suggest this place to any one , not even my enemy.
they charge you an arm and a leg for the crap they give .
the food was terrible.
the room was so dirty it was a nightmare. at night i was woken by a sound and found there was a rat in my room, who may have bitten my son .
could not sleep all night.
totop it off when i complained the hotel manager had the audacity to say this is a jungle area so there may be some insects / rats in the rooms.
over and above all of this i was made to pay a very exhorbitant bill at time of check out which i strongly disputed but was threatened by the manager to pay or else be taken to the cops.
overall this was the worse hotel i have ever been to in my life.
the topping of the cake was all the staff at the time of check out keeps on hovering around you like hawks asking for tips for what the most terrible hotel ever..

we went to this hotel and chose this property coz it looked good on the net and also because of the brand name since they have a fabulous property in mahabaleshwar. but were we in for a bad surprise.....had booked from mumbai itself and even made the payment...had asked foe two rooms specifically by the poolside since we had kids withus and we knew that we would be hanging around there most of the time....after our long walk from the holiday camp dasturi we were waiting to relax but goodness imagine our rooms were not ready though should have been coz we checked in almost at 12 instaed of 10 but were told that there were no rooms available near the poolside and that no commitment was made regarding this...were given two rooms in some stupid far away corner...which were too shady...we refused to take those ...called the owner who told us to wait..accepted it was his fault and said would give us the suite...we went to see it but the suite didnt have two beds just one bed and mattresses on the floor and the place was stinking...while we were looking at the rooms...somebody from the other room told us dont even think about stayinfg here...it is BAD.the guy told us to go eat our lunch and he would try to fix something but it was already 1'30 and even the food was not even ready..supposed to be ready by 12....this was the last straw since the kids were getting very restless by now...we asked then to refund our god damn money...sped from there and booked into usha ascot...thank good .....wonderful stay there.,...but that i will put down in the next review..this is just about BRIGHTLANDS...which i guess is just cashing on its brand name and ruining so many years of goodwill...later we got to know from the locals that the management had changed hands...and the previous owner now runs a place called horseland spa..but this place is ridiculously bad.

At the reception desk, I was shown a card indicating the cost of the rooms. Went to see the room, it was OK but nothing special. When I went back to check in, the clerk told me it was a per person rate not a couple rate. For the price he was asking I could have spent a night in a five star hotel in Mubai. I laughed and walked out. I went to Gujarat Bhavan Hotel instead, good rooms, excellent food, and HONEST staff.
