“Best place for the weekender's....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

just the right place to unwind, absolute peaceful and the host were very warm and friendly. we didn't explore much, but had a nice time in the bungalow, the food here is good and clean ambience makes it a place to visit again.

Room Tip: If you need to reach faster and easy take the road through Murnad.

9 of my friends and I went to visit the homestay on 1st & 2nd November 2013. Having stayed in other homestays earlier, we found the price a little steep since it did not offer lunch and served only dinner and breakfast. The owner was away and the employees did not rise up to the occasion. We took up two rooms near the river side. We played volleyball with the net and ball provided. Those wishing to indulge in alcohol should carry their own as the auto guy charges 200 rupees for transport alone. Nothing much about the river (Stream/Rivulet). Cannot swim there as access is not good. Coming to the food, Coorgi Pork was good but quantity was not sufficient. The chicken cooked was not up to the mark as it did not contain tomatoes or onions which would have made a thick gravy of sorts. The breakfast arrived a little late. The care taker Mani tried his best though. All in all, paying 1000 rupees per head only for night stay dinner and breakfast was a little on the higher side. The path through the plantation is very very bumpy. You need to traverse 1.5 kms to reach the river side lodging. Avoid taking your own vehicle through this stretch.

Very nice place .. located in the middle of luscious green coffee plantation, this place is Ideal for ppl looking to get away from the city for the weekend. Nice food , predominantly Coorg style. Breakfast and dinner was sumptuous and served on time. Not very far from tala cavery , bhagamandala , palace and Tadiyandamolu .. The owner had arranged for a trip to the river which is close by. They have a property by the bank of the river and that is very good too. Overall , a very good place to stay and very cooperative hosts.

Room Tip: Ask for the river bank ones . Those are not very easily accessible and only jeeps go till there . Th...

We have reached Kaveri Estate at 4:00 pm we took there 1st floor house which was really big, it can accomodate 6-8 People (Only Gents). They arranged campfire for your outdoor party. Food is really excellent. Morning we had a walk around the guest house the coffee plantations are really good...... Guys its a bit difficult to reach the place. But once reached you can have lot of fun....
Its better if you carry drinks along with you. Hospitality is really good....

We had been to Kaveri estate in June. The rooms looked decent from their website and hence we booked..We were 2 couples and we reached the place by 7Pm after visiting Talacauvery..We were devastated when we reached the place and when they showed the rooms... The rooms are in the cellar(Should be their old parking shed) and they have 4 rooms there... We were invited by lot of insects and shabby bed spreads..When we complained about this to the owner they asked us to vacate or adjust with the existing!!!We had stay since it was very late! The windows are not covered completely and the window curtains are horrible..There is zero privacy... Food is also hopeless...Plsssssss dont visit this place even if they offer this for freee....

Room Tip: The rooms in the 1st floor where owner stays are decent(not great)

We went to Coorg in October, just after the rainy season ended, the weather was excellent. It was a sudden trip and we were a bit tight on the budget. After going through many website we came across this place, the picture and its proximity to the river as mentioned on the website, was what made us book 2 rooms for 2 nights. We were 4 adults, 2 kinds and one infant. Booking was done on phone and advance transferred to their account. We eeven managed to get a decent discount as it was not the regular tourist season. We left Bangalore early in the morning, the route post Mysore was beautiful.

Once we reached Madekiri and headed to wards Napoklu (where the home stay is located), the road turned good to terrible, maybe the effect of heavy rains. Once we reached the cottage, we were happy to see the rooms, they were very clean and comfortable. The only thing we did not realize is that the owners, live at the ground floor, and they have made 3 rooms on the first floor, these were not independent rooms, There was one proper room, the 2nd was a living room converted into a bed room, and the third one was a make shift room with kind of temporary attached bathroom. This is the one thing that disappointed us. Though there was no other families at that time so we managed (and got some privacy too).

The 2nd thing that disappointed us was the river side thing mentioned on the website. We could not find any river/stream nearby. When we asked about it from the owners, they told us they have another cottage near the stream, and we were driven to that place on their jeep. It was not much of a river, just a small mountain steam flowing. We were told that they give that place mainly to corporate’s or groups of 15-20 people.

But all this disappointment vanished in the evening, the view from the balcony was beautiful, with little rain , the weather became very pleasant … a little chilly.

The food they served was amazing. The local Kovada delicacies were tasty and very well made by the hosts themselves. The cottage is surrounded by coffee plantations and a walk through them, especially early in the morning is very refreshing.

Room Tip: Good for groups if you book the entire 3 bedroom unit.
