“What you see is what you get !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Neeralaya was an unforgettable experience ! We were looking for a hill station experience sans the maddening crowds from the plains and Neeralaya was highly recommended by a friend who had visited in 2010. We have just returned to Gurgaon after 6 nights in Neeralaya. What can one say except that all the epithets such as "home away from home" or "paradise on earth" are 100% TRUE ! The setting on the banks of the river Beas, the serenity and tranquility not only driven by the locale but also by the fact that there are only 3 cottages which makes it an "exclusive" experience. Our breakfasts in the hut right along the river bank was simply mesmerising with the sounds of the rapids washing over us. The owner, Munir Suri, is truly an inspiration for all those pursuing excellence in hospitality. His personal touch coupled with an excellent staff, and delicious "almost like home" food (managed by none other than his wife and a very accomplished Nepalese chef in Rajan !) makes you want to return to Neeralay over and over again ! We will certainly return to this paradise and strongly recommend Neeralaya to all those looking to get far from the madding crowd and spend a truly "chilled out" holiday. The highlight of our trip was a trip to the Suri Orchards (highly recommended) nestled up in the mountains off the beaten track - made all the more special as we were accompanied by Munir Suri and his staff. It was fascinating listening to his experiences growing up in the valley and seeing its transformation (good, bad or ugly) over the years. His passion for and commitment to the environment agenda is also outstanding. He has some very interesting plans on refurbishing Neeralaya and we look forward to seeing the fruits of his labor soon !

Room Tip: We stayed at the Peach villa which is perfect for a family of 4. A sizeable living room with open ki...

A drive which ended in the lap of Neeralaya. The more we say about the place the less it is. The warmth, cleanliness, serenity are all just the tip of the iceberg of the experience called "Neeralaya". The place is a labour of love, which reflects in its architecture, horticulture and hospitality. The Suri's are hands-on owners and that is what makes this place so special. The food prepared with love and warmth is wonderful, and has to be when the lady of the house pays such close attention to it :) 5 days felt less and we will surely be back for more.

Asking Munir to count how many varieties of fruit trees are there on the property brought the count close to 20. The centre of attraction the Walnut tree is magnificent. The entire property has been designed with care and a keen key on aesthetics and comfort of the guests at all times.

A tree house, trampoline, swings, hammocks, a gazebo all just add on to the beauty of the place. The sound of the rapids of Beas is soothing and the river bank a perfect place for some much needed rest and relaxation.

To watch the sun rise over the mountains opposite the property with just the water for company is something that needs to be experienced not written about.

A talk every evening with Munir is recommended and mandatory to learn more about the place and other things.

Taking care of the needs of the guests no matter how inconvenient they may be is the mantra that Neeralaya lives by. Their teams be it the F & B, housekeeping or the team for the adventure sports too reflect the care and eye for detail that the Suri's go by.

Waking up to the sing of the birds, falling asleep to the lullaby thats the Beas, lazing around on the hammocks or playing with Sheru ( their good looking pup ) are just some of the things we did there.

White water rafting, trips to Manikaran ( Hot springs ), treks to 8000 ft above sea level, treks to an old Kullu village and much much more are some of the other ways to spend your days.

Looking forward to visiting them in the winter when they have 6 inches of snow :) And with the Kullu airport opening .... we are surely going to go back !

Dear Singh Family,
It was such a pleasure to meet you all. I am extremely sorry that I have taken so so long to respond to your very very positive review, for which we all are very grateful. We look forward to your return visit some time in the future and hopefully by then we will have a swimming pool for aunty so that we don't have to worry about her going into the river!! Our best to all from the entire team here.

If you, like me, deplore the state of hill stations in India nowadays, head straight to Neeralaya- it will give you hope! Tucked away in the lap of the Kullu valley, Neeralaya is a slice of serenity and sustainable hospitality. Wooden cottages, made of 100 year-old reclaimed wood gathered from himachali homes are warmly furnished and well appointed. The bathrooms are modern, yet homey. The landscaping is beautifully done, and I can imagine it looks as stunning in the snowy winter months as it did when we went in May. And the best thing? Neeralaya sits bang on the Beas...the roar of the river is a constant companion, its frothy rapids a visual meditation while we chilled out and played dumb charades in the gazebo, read our books on a hammock, drank wine and beers round a bonfire on the little beach...heaven! Mealtimes were yet another excellent experience- delicious food, Indian or continental, and my favourite, fresh trout everyday, cooked tandoori or lemon butter garlic..superb. The staff were wonderful, always smiling, despite some very strange requests from our group, and Muneer was an excellent host: for thats what we felt, like we were his guests, never his customers.
For those who cannot sit still, there is some excellent trekking (we did an easy level, but I'm sure Muneer can organise harder treks), outdoor lunches on top of mountains, a bit of rafting (a challenging river, not recommended for the faint of heart; plus i'm not sure about the safety arrangements) paragliding, zorbing etc in the Solang valley (which we didn't do). Go up to Manali if you must, but believe me, you'll come running back to Neeralaya for the restful, quiet calm that hill station holidays are really about.

Room Tip: the plum cottage on the river is the best, and in summer, the coolest.

Neeralaya- an excellent holiday destination. If one wishes one can indulge oneself by doing nothing - just staring at the immense beauty of mother nature and hearing the loud and clear chirping of the birds - is already a treat. If one is adventurous there is ample option of trekking, rafting, cycling or walking around. We had an amazing experience which was possible also due to the excellent and helpful Staff and Owner of Neeralaya. We feel throughly pampered and rested.

It was an amazing trip to neeralaya . We found the place very clean and homely . It is well maintained by Mr.Muneer Suri and other staff . The staff at neeralaya are hospitable . It's an awesome location . It is located just on the banks of river Beas . An excellent place to hang out . Just ten steps and you reach the river . You have a bonfire just beside the river which will be lit . The place is lush green with many kinds of fruit trees . The food was excellent . It was like our home food . You get whatever you want to eat . Breakfast , lunch , dinner , and snacks everything is provided . The responsibility of the staff is at its best . Mr.Suri is well informed by his staff . We were well guided by Mr.Suri regarding the best time to visit the surrounding exotic locations . Just try rafting . It will be fabulous . Overall it was a splendid trip . Given a chance to visit any hotel in Kullu Manali , it would be Neeralaya for us .

Absolutely lovely setting, with river Beas alongside the property, tulips in full bloom, Himalayan birds chirping around, beautiful architecture in a perfect blend with the surroundings, excellent food and very warm service staff. Finally, perfect music to elevate our moods. Regrets though, we had a very short stay.

This was my first trip to manali but definitely not my last , all thanks to this heavenly abode created by Mr Muneer Suri . No photographs can do justice to Neeralaya and no words can describe its beauty , one simply has to experience it . Neeralaya bought tears to my eyes by its sheer beauty , it's nature at its best and to top it excellent service by the staff and personal attention given by Muneer and his lovely wife Manisha has already got me planning my next trip . Heaven could not be more beautiful than Neeralaya !

Room Tip: Choose any room , they all are aesthetically designed and extremely comfortable .

Dear Guests, it was such a pleasure to have the two of you visit us and we really enjoyed spending some time getting to know you both. One of the main reasons for us to create Neeralaya was to be able to interact with our guests such as you and in the process of making you experience the natural beauty of our valley, learn so much about the beauty of life in general. We are sure to see you again, both in and outside the valley. Keep the travel bugs in you well whetted forever! From the entire team of Neeralaya, very best wishes!
