It felt like staying with a family! The hotel owners were so accomodating. We booked a garden deluxe room, but on arrival found we had been upgraded to a luxury room. I was disappointed, but the owner explained that the garden rooms were being refurnished and assured us would be ready the next day. In addition it was quite cold and and the owner thought we might be more comfortable in a modern centrally heated room. That was fine but the next day we moved and the garden delux room was just lovely. In compensation each night we were given a special dish in addition to the dinner buffet. One night it was bread and butter pudding - bliss! At the weekend there was a big party and the owner suggested we might like to travel to Chamba for that night and made arrangements for us to stay at a hotel there. I am so glad we went as Chamba was fantastic quite different to Dalhousie, steeped in history. It was arranged such that we only paid the cost of the taxi. Quite remarkable. I would stay at the Grand view hotel again and will be recommending it to all my friends. The views are breathtaking and all the staff so friendly and cater for all your needs.
There is Wi Fi access which was great but we had hoped to buy a local sim card for our mobile which we found can only be bought by Indian Nationals.
The dinner buffet was perfect, lots of choice and different dishes every night, some prepared on the spot.
The weather was great, T shirt during the day (we were there 13 - 21 March) but cold at night, plenty of beautiful shawls to buy at the local market. The Rhododendrons were in bloom and the rose bushes getting new leaves. It will be wonderful in a couple more weeks as all the flowers come into bloom.
We weren't hassled at all, the people in town were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Awful to come home to the UK to blizzards but very happy memories.
Thank you Grand View Hotel
