“Mighty Brahamputra flowing by...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

A hotel in Government sector, with wonderful location but not well maintained. The rooms are spacious but not very elegantly furnished.Staff is courteous, food is good and overall it is a wonderful property. If owned by private sector, it would had been by now developed as best hotel of north east.
Ferry can be started, ghat can be build at banks to add beauty.
Still,it provides value for money and a very safe stay.
Above all the sight of mighty Brahamputra from the windows is truly breathtaking.

Room Tip: Take rooms facing the river.

This was my maiden trip to Guwahati. A small & beautiful city. While booking myself into this hotel i had this usual apprehension that we all normally have about a govt of India enterprise.
However staying @ the hotel was a pleasant experience. The service was prompt & the staff friendly & efficient. I booked a room in the hotel through email & the front desk executive Mili was of great help & see did reserve a Brahmaputra facing room for me. The view was mind was just blowing difficult to explain in words. The vastness of the river was a at the same time beautiful & frightening. The beauty was so over powering that small short comings of the hotel just vanished from my mind.
Coming back to the practical world, the hotel is very well located opposite the high court. Is about 27 km away from the airport & very close to PanBazar. The rooms are big & the bed comfortable. Bathrooms are clean too. Furniture slightly old & could do with some improvement. The breakfast spread could be more imaginative & needs more variety. But for a business traveller overall a stay here is just perfect. And it would help if the hotel allows free internet access which even the small budget hotels offer these days. A word of caution: TATA photon data card doesn’t work in Assam. Only reliance does. My blackberry saved me. Over all I loved my stay.

Room Tip: Go for the river facing ones. I was in 502 on the top most floor.

The best hotel in guwahati city. Wonderful brahmaputra view with renovated rooms. Best place to enjoy holiday with family. I am regular visitor to Guwahati (Nort East) & stayed in almost every hotel in guwahati, but this is the best located & near to nature & centrally located hotel in the town.

Room Tip: Brahmaputra River Facing Rooms are Fabulous

Stayed on business. Was given a traditional hat and scarf on arrival. Thought this would be fine for holidaymakers, and fine if the remainder of the service was up to scratch, but it wasn't. Despite a corporate booking confirmation the hotel insisted I pay on check out. Again not very professional. We had to wait for at least 45minutes for food both evenings. We hadn't ordered anything complicated. Too long.
Wifi is additional and FAR TOO EXPENSIVE given speed.
Rooms were shabby and all timber a bit beaten up, paint flaking, handles in desperate need of repair.
Telly was ok, but I could hardly hear it over the discotheque along the corridor until 1130pm.

The view was very nice. Not spectacular, but lovely all the same. And not in a bad location for town, though definitely a car journey away.

All round rather disappointing.

Hotel is ideally located on the bank of mighty river Brahmputra. You will be welcomed by traditional Gomcha and a head gear.Staff is courteous and helpful.Location is good as it is easily approachable from station and airport.Famous Kamakhya temple is around 8 kms.Ask for river view room from where you can see small island in the river. You can enjoy your food in restaurant overlooking Brahmputra, although dining area is a bit far from the river bank.Rooms and place is clean and nice.
Overall a good place for stay and relaxing.

Room Tip: Ask for riverside room at top floor.

The hotel is located close to the railway station. Everything in this hotel is average. Please do not expect anything nicer and great. The food is like you ask for something and you get something. We asked for manchurian and they sent something "not-manchurian" The good thing is you get a nice view of Brahmaputra river and the walking distance to the river and the boating area is also kinda close. I think since this is a government run hotel, the staffs did not care about the professionalism with the guests. It was our first and last stay in this hotel.
