Description: Dear all the friends of the Full Moon Cafe, Havelock, we are so very sad to announce that we will have to remain closed for a few weeks, due to extensive damage to our premises, that occurred in early September 2014. Please don't worry, we are all fine (including Ninja the cat!) But, for a short time, we are forced to shut shop. BUT we intend to reopen for business very soon....Thanks for all the beautiful messages of love and support we have been receiving on our Facebook page and website. We'll keep you posted about the reopening date....In the meantime, please stay with us....The site may look a little rough during the renovation, but we promise our cafe will be better than ever soon! Huge love to all our friends and well wishers. The Full Moon Cafe Family

“Full marks to Full Moon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

I ate at Full Moon Cafe during my time on Havelock Island. I must say that this restaurant scores highly in every department, and you must visit it at least once if you happen to be in Havelock.

Food
The prices may seem a little high, but the portions are rather generous and the quality of food ensured that I ate there almost everyday.

My breakfasts and dinners were usually light. Lunchtime was when I sampled Full Moon's superb seafood dishes, and I had no cause to complain, except that I felt very sleepy after such a hearty meal!

The milkshakes are not all that remarkable, but do try their freshly squeezed juices (no packaged juices here!).

One more thing that I HIGHLY recommend is the 'dessert of the day', which is usually prepared just before dinner. I had the banana-chocolate and the orange-chocolate cakes, and that was pretty much what I had for dinner.

Ambience and Service
The ambience is amazing. The seats are comfortable, the lighting is great and most importantly, the music was not loud (a disease that several Indian restaurants have).

One can sit here and listen to the waves for hours on end. If you're bored, have a look at the bookshelf or play a quick game of chess while you wait.

In addition, the general lack of noisy families (loud fathers on mobile phones and rowdy children for whom discipline is an alien concept) ensured that we could converse without much trouble.

The two adorable resident canines - Frodo and Sam do roam around the restaurant at times. Do not be alarmed. They are not permitted to enter the kitchen, and they will not clamber onto the chairs or tables.

The staff was friendly and helpful. All in all, a great place to relax, eat and pass your time!

“Great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

We stayed at Island Vinnie's and did diving with DIVE India, which is both at the same resort. We had breakfest, lunch and dinner at Full Moon Cafe almost everyday for 10 days and there were 6 of us, so tried almost everything on the menu and everything was delicious. The only thing I do not recommend are fresh juices, as they're mixed with water and quite expensive. The fresh made lemonade however is a must!
Best food we had was grilled tiger prawns, which were truly amazing. Wrap with tuna, all kinds of fish, prawn noodles, french toast, fish sticks and fruit salad were our favorites. Garlic mayo served with many dishes is a hit!
The staff is very friendly and helpful.

“Great setting for young people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

A place that is mainly dominated by foreigners, I chances upon it because we did our Scuba with Dive India which is in the same resort. Great ambience and music, good fresh juice, sandwiches and continental food. Didnt taste anything else. Great place for a young crowd. Pointers, dont be too noisy the best place about the cafe is the calm and quiet and the privacy you enjoy in spite of being in the open. Prompt service, something that is rare in Havelock. Sit here and spend hours without realising that time has passed.

The place also has good options for passing your time, like Scrabble, Battleship and Chess.

“Lip smacking delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

The title says it all, go no where else when in Havelock. Especially liked their manchurian dishes which are served with fried rice. Excellent idea I should say.
And the breakfast here is pretty amazing as well. The desserts we thought were overpriced for the portions served but hey you are in a tropical paradise and that is to be expected.

“Strange Atmosphere - OK Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

After reading the rave reviews I took my bride to this place. The greeter/host was sitting at his private (?) table and called out to ask "how many?". Then he pointed us to a table without getting up. The server brought us the menu. We ordered mezze platter, fish tikkas and falafel platter. The mezze platter had hummus, baba ghanoush, salads and garlic naan (looked more like flat bread). The fish was dry but the felafels were good.

The customers seemed to be mostly diving students and instructors staying at DiveIndia. The two dogs hung out there - isn't that unhygienic?

Will not repeat. Preferred the Wild Orchid and the Barefoot Resort restaurants over this.
