“Great value dog friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

I travel with my dog whenever I can and I've found that some hotels are dog friendly and some are dog tolerant. Drury was as dog friendly as I've seen with the exception of hotel chains that make dog friendliness part of their identity (like lowes or kimpton for example). There was no extra charge, there was an easy back exit for him and the staff didn't act like I was walking a tiger through the halls when they saw him.

Otherwise the location was great-- near a bunch of restaurants and a mall. Great value. All in all a good experience.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We stayed one night in early January in a two room suite. The price was terrific - $111 - especially for a suite. So, if it is cheap space you are seeking this is the place for you.

Part of the Drury package is free food & drink, both "dinner" and "breakfast." At the low rates they charge, the meal service cannot be much - and it wasn't, so we skipped both. But we needed a half-cup of milk to put on our dog's kibble for dinner, and although there is a milk dispenser in the dining area it was empty. We asked if we could get milk - happy to pay for it - and the answer was "no." So, if you are happy feeding your kids (or your dog) mac and cheese and hot dogs, and soft drinks, for dinner, this too is the place for you.

This is a minor annoyance, but the luggage carts are the cheapest I've ever seen - and they squeak like banshees. I brought one up to our room to load in the early am and swear I woke every guest on the floor as I screeched and lurched down the hall.

On the upside, there is a terrific sushi place in walking distance (Ronin) and they do take-out. They also offer Asian fusion, if sushi isn't your preference. Far far better than the usual chain offerings nearby.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better as the racket from the dining area comes up the atrium.

DruryHotels, General Manager at Drury Inn & Suites Columbus Northwest, responded to this review, January 25, 2013
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your recent stay with us at the Drury Inn & Suites Columbus Northwest. I really appreciate any and all feedback as it helps us take the necessary action to exceed the expections of our guests. We strive to provide an excellent value for all of our guests and we do take your comments to heart.

I apologize that our menu options did not meet your expectations. We do have a rotating menu of different Kickback selections, and I will definitely forward your comments onto our Director of Food and Beverage for review. All of our guests' suggestions help us determine what changes we make to our food offerings in the future.

I also apologize that you received less than exceptional service in regard to your request for milk in the evenings. While we have different drink options in the morning and in the evening, we still should have taken the time to get you what you needed. I am very sorry for letting you leave without fulfilling your request.

Your continued business is very important to us and I hope you will not let these service opportunities deter you from staying with Drury Hotels again. You are a valued guest to us and your comments will help us serve you better in the future. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Hospitably,
Andrea Ellerbrock

Ok, you're probably wondering why we gave this place a 4 rating instead of a 5 if everything was so great!

Read on.

The staff's friendliness and service couldn't be beat! The rooms are immaculate as is the lobby and food area. Grounds fine. So why a 4? Two reasons: The bathroom toilet / tub area was kind of cramped and trapezoidal. Never quite saw one like this in 42 years of heavy traveling. Also hint to management: slow down the door closing dampers a bit to ameliorate the morning door-slamming festival as guests leave.

Other than that, perfect stay! We've been traveling back home after a nine-month stint in Phoenix and our three nights at Druries have made confirmed customers of us! Considering today's prices, and don 't forget to ask for deals when you make your reservations, the value of this chain can't be overstated!

This property is among the best of the Drury Hotels. I congratulate everyone for their service, placing the customer first. These people have been trained and have the talent to make a visit pleasant and inviting for the next trip. I found Mara, a newer member of the team, willing to do whatever is needed to assure a satisfaction.
The hotel is clean and easily accessible. Comfortable and quiet. Want to get out for an evening? Lots of good restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

This hotel is very convenient to area businesses and across the street from the mall. Our room was an excellent value, clean, and spacious. We had a 2 room suite and everything was perfect. Our room was directly next to the stairwell but we were not disturbed at all. In a suite there is a television, a couch, two chairs, a coffee table, desk, two end tables, microwave, and fridge in the living room area. In the bedroom, there are incredibly comfortable beds (a king or 2 queens), two nightstands, and a dresser and television. All of this plus a full breakfast in the morning and the night before hotdogs, mac&cheese, salad, soup, baked potatoes, soft drinks, etc. plus 3 free adult beverages. What more could you ask for less than $90? I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The pool is not that exciting during the winter months, as it is actually 1/2 a pool. The other 1/2...

This is an EXCELLENT hotel. The rooms are very nice and rather cozy. The staff is awesome as they always ask how you are doing and what you need and some even remember your name - very impressive. If you need something there is always staff around and you do not have to search for anyone. And what sets Drury apart from all others is the "Extras are not Extra" just as they advertise!

Fast, friendly check in. Very good evening snack so we didn't have to run out to eat-included 3 drinks.Close to zoo, OSU and family for Thanksgiving. Used the cardio machines in exercise room. Breakfast had good variety and well staffed. Allison stopped at each table to make sure everyone was happy.Great find.
