“Outrageous Parking Fee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

I parked my car at the back. The fee for parking was $40. There was a valet bill for additional $20 and I did not not use the valet. Staff is impossible to talk to. Additional $10 a night for wifi, what is that? Even a rundown motel gives out free wifi.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel on three separate occasions, the last being this past weekend, and the service, amenities, and location of this hotel have always been superior during each stay. They did manage to lose our in-room breakfast order this time (hadn't happened before to us), but they promptly rectified this problem by bring us breakfast within 30 minutes of my call to the front desk and comp'd us for it.

Room Tip: The Executive rooms are much larger than the smallest rooms, but not that much more expensive.

I was sorely disappointed. The cleanliness and condition of the room did not reflect a 4 star level. There were cracks in the cieling, the bed sheets felt as though there was residue on them, and it was obvious the complimentary moistourizer was already previously used as inside of the cap to the bottle was dirty (and not with the product).

Stayed one night for business. Very hot day with temperratures in the 90s. Lobby of hotel is quite appealing and a tasteful refurbishment of an old building. Rooms quite small and dingy with small (but recently renovated) bathroom. Overall OK - what you might expect for a regional Westin but some way off the standard you would expect in a larger location.

Main issue was the very large 1980s (literally) aircon unit with loads of ugly pipes coming out the side. This thing was like having a jet engine in your room in terms of noise - you would have to be one hell of a sleeper to get through that! Luckily I spotted the problem so cranked it up full blast at 64F and then went out to dinner for 2 hours. By the time I came back it was cold enough to just turn it off without the room turning too hot throught the night.

Although the room was OK I would not stay here again until they upgrade the aircon to something quite and modern than a big bos. There must be hotels in Columbus with more modern facilities than this.

This hotel is beAutiful and historic but in a very boring dead area. My room was small but adequate and the people nice. Wuld stay here again but you need a car or cab to get around to anywhere where there is stuff to do. Tis otel seems to be mostly for people doing work atnthe nearby court

I am still looking for a very high quality hotel in Columbus. The Westin is the best so far, but I haven't stayed at the Blackwell. The Westin has some character, and the staff is very friendly and accomodating. Not overwhelmed like the Hyatt Regency. Many of the rooms are on the smallish side (actually, they have some tiny ones that are a cheap, but really small!) The linens are nice, bahthrooms clean and well stocked. Westin standards. This is a renovation/retrofit of an historic building, with all the good and bad that that entails. Grand lobby. Thurber's bar is OK, but way too brightly lit to be a bar. Feels more like an ice cream shop. But, the bartender is good. A little more thought and some comfortable lounge chairs and this could be a destination bar. The staff here makes it a good hotel.

We had a large room on the 5th floor of the beautiful Westin Columbus. Plenty of space for moving around which was great since we needed to entertain grandkids between wedding events. The hotel staff was very hopitable. Offered us the use of a microwave & fridge which came in very handy. Convenient to walk around the downtown area.

Room Tip: no pool or spa - clicked these indicators by mistake
