I love, love, love this place. As a person who likes to bake my own macarons and who frequents Ladurée and Pierre Hermé's shop when in Paris, this place is just about as good as it gets.
I used to live around the corner in German Village and now live back in D.C., but I still get some of their macarons and almondines delivered as a special treat once or twice a year. But I definitely miss being able to walk over for a croissant and jam on a Saturday morning.
A reviewer or two has said the pastries are too sugary, but, well, that's kind of how these sweets are supposed to be. Macarons are super-flavorful and sugary, but it's not the kind of cookie you're supposed to eat a ton of in one sitting. It's about quality, not quantity. But if you don't have a sweet tooth, I seem to remember there being some savory treats, too!
