“A Great Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

We were referred here by the front desk of our hotel during osu move-in weekend. We called to make a reservation and were told they were booked til 8, which worked for us. We figured if they were booked the food had to be good. We walked in & asked to be seated at the sushi bar (our favorite place) and noticed the place was packed, there was a wait for tables & there were a bunch of people coming in for take out. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. The food was very, very fresh. I ordered 2 special rolls that were really delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

“Good quality of the sushi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

We stopped by this restaurant on the way to other city. I am really picky on Japanese food in the States because I am from Japan. I have eaten at so many Japanese restaurant and this would be one of the best Japanese food place.

We had two Donburi and rolls. The restaurant is owned by Japanese people and sushi cooked by Japanese chef. The rice for the sushi and roll is little sweet which matched the sashimi really good.

However, the only reason I give four star is because of Donburi. It was little over cooked and server and the server made us wait little longer than other restaurant.

The cost-wise, the lunch portion is not that expensive. However, their sushi is little more expensive than other place, but I believe it is just because of the qualities of the fish.

If I only think about the fish they are using, it is definitely 5 stars.

Good place to re-visit!

“Not into sushi, but loved this restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

Everything was so fresh and well prepared. The menu was extensive and offered something for everyone - even those who are not seafood fans. Good service, great food. Well worth a try...

“Splendid ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

Had a great meal here last night!

The sashimi and sushi were plentiful in variety and quantity, and we'll priced. The other mains we tried were very tasty too.

We had to wait for a table, but that serves us right for turning up at a peak time to a popular restaurant with no booking. Once seated the service was fantastic. Very attentive service and good banter with the staff despite us staying beyond closing time.

Would thoroughly recommend. Absolutely no need to be put off seafood this far from the sea!

“Our favorite place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

Akai Hana is without a doubt, one of the top three best restaurants in Columbus. We have been going there for the past few years and never had a bad experience. Overall, the staff is not super nice, but the food and the atmosphere easily make up for that. Akai Hana has a very traditional Japanese interior with lots of beautiful carved wood and nice lighting. You can watch the amazing sushi chefs create their culinary masterpieces at the bar in the back of the restaurant. The environment is comfortable yet upscale. As for the food...Wow. To tell the truth, anything you order will probably be great, but some of our favorites are the spicy scallop roll, soft shell crab roll (Spider), Age Tofu, all sashimi, and Wasabi Shumai Dumplings (which have a little surprise!). The cuisine is very fresh and authentic. I almost hate writing a review about this place just because it is kind of a local secret. Haha! :) It is just so good. Definitely give Akai Hana a try. You will not be disappointed.
