“Splendid ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

Had a great meal here last night!

The sashimi and sushi were plentiful in variety and quantity, and we'll priced. The other mains we tried were very tasty too.

We had to wait for a table, but that serves us right for turning up at a peak time to a popular restaurant with no booking. Once seated the service was fantastic. Very attentive service and good banter with the staff despite us staying beyond closing time.

Would thoroughly recommend. Absolutely no need to be put off seafood this far from the sea!

“Our favorite place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

Akai Hana is without a doubt, one of the top three best restaurants in Columbus. We have been going there for the past few years and never had a bad experience. Overall, the staff is not super nice, but the food and the atmosphere easily make up for that. Akai Hana has a very traditional Japanese interior with lots of beautiful carved wood and nice lighting. You can watch the amazing sushi chefs create their culinary masterpieces at the bar in the back of the restaurant. The environment is comfortable yet upscale. As for the food...Wow. To tell the truth, anything you order will probably be great, but some of our favorites are the spicy scallop roll, soft shell crab roll (Spider), Age Tofu, all sashimi, and Wasabi Shumai Dumplings (which have a little surprise!). The cuisine is very fresh and authentic. I almost hate writing a review about this place just because it is kind of a local secret. Haha! :) It is just so good. Definitely give Akai Hana a try. You will not be disappointed.

“Excellent sushi experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

Noted as one of the best sushi places in town, I enjoy bringing my out of town sushi friends here. They have an excellent selection that will satisfy any sushi fan.

“Awesome sushi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

I've had enough sushi in my life to know good sushi and great sushi. This is definitely close to great sushi; certainly for Ohio I don't think you'll find better. Had several varieties of nigiri and two house rolls while sitting at the sushi bar. All fresh and tasty but the rolls in particular set the entire meal apart. Unique combinations displayed great creativity by the chefs. All that and a tall Sapporo made for an excellent meal.

“Quality with Consistency”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

We've been going to Akaihanna on a regular basis for the past few years and it remains out favorite. The place can be busy on weekend nights, so call ahead (sometimes 1 or 2 days) to reserve a table to avoid the waiting. The restaurant is not easily identifiable from the street, but it's located behind the Staples store on Kenny and Old Henderson.

The food has always been fresh, the presentation beautiful. We've been pleased by their quality and consistency. Lunch boxes are of great value. Weekend dinner boxe and Sushi party boat are our dinner favorites. Bon Appetit!
