“nice gem in downtown Columbus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2010

OH, I wish I knew about this place when I had to stay in Columbus last November for a conference. Very spacious, well-appointed, immaculately clean hotel room, with a full kitchen. Felt more like an apt. than a hotel room. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. The only downside was trying to spot the hotel while driving at night--the sign isn't large or bright enough. No problems, no drama. That's what you want when you are traveling.

The parents and friends of our team that played in the OHSAA boys basketball final four stayed at this hotel in March 2010 and our experience was poor. We rented the banquet room and after our game we had a large group in the room and the hotel lounge. The bartender spent the entire time chasing our young children away from the bar area, she got the manager when our group exceeded the 30 person maximum for "fire code". Forcing us to make our friends and family leave the area to comply. The hotel only provides valet parking at $20 per day that is not adequtely disclosed on their website or by staff when making the reservation. There were issues with locating cars of those who did pay for this service. In addition, jewelry accidently left behind disappeared.

My partner and I stayed at Residence Inn Columbus Downtown in early March, 2010. We were in town for the annual Arnold Sports Festival. The rooms were well appointed, with nice touches. The breakfast was OK, not great, but adequate. The location was great.

I spend a lot of time traveling on business and it's nice to find a place that feels more like a home than a hotel. Each time I've stayed here, the staff has been very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely pick this hotel on my next trip to Columbus.

We stayed five nights at the Residence Inn since our son was having surgery at Children's Hospital. Let me just say that the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Always fast, friendly and efficient. Valet was wonderful. The rooms were so cozy and made our stay very comfortable. We were in and out quite a bit (back and forth to the hospital) and the staff asked us each day how things were going and seemed to genuinely care about our situation. They didn't have to go out of their way to be so kind to us but they did. It shows that the staff really do care about the customers and they treat this hotel like a home. The rooms were great and we really appreciated the kitchen. We were able to stock it with snacks and cold beverages so we could grab something on our way in and out. My husband enjoyed the free breakfast every morning. The exercise room was a nice way to relieve stress. The exercise equipment was exceptionally nice! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Columbus and plan on staying here again for any future visits!

Stayed at this hotel for a 3 day weekend w/ girlfriends in September - our first at this location. The hotel is a renovated bank building which made for some charming architecture (vault door leads into breakfast buffet room where an old safe and safety deposit boxes still stand) and welcome stay. Were able to check in earlier and our room was very clean w/ retro-decor, spacious and ready to go when we arrived at approx. 1:30 PM. Pleasantly surprised to see a fully-stocked kitchen & stainless steel appliances - we didn't use them but def a plus if your traveling with children. My only complaint was the bathroom did not have a fan or ventilation feature so we had to leave the door open between showers! Hotel was very quiet and is pet-friendly but only saw one pooch in a handbag on our way out to dinner. Breakfast buffet was the standard fare with hot and cold foods, waffles, eggs, pastries and juices.

Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Hotel did not seem crowded for a weekend with lots of events going on. Valet parking is $20 (check your bill - we were charged twice) but a parking lot was a few steps away in a safe area and much cheaper. We "valeted" our vehicles the first night and "parked" for the second night. I felt very safe in leaving my car there and generally in the whole area.

Directly across the street we ate two FABULOUS eateries! The quaint TipTop which served us up some delicious fried green tomatos and pot roast sandwiches in a thrift-shop-chic atmosphere. Had dinner at Due Amici the following night and was impressed by staff and delicious Italian cuisine. Best spinach artichoke dip on the planet!

All in all I would not hesitate for a moment to stay here again. There are restaurants abound and centrally located to the Port Columbus airport. My girlfriends and I would come back here in a minute!

New Residence Inn with large rooms and full kitchens...great if traveling w/ kids. Numerous restaurants w/in walking distance, and close to almost everything in downtown Columbus. Nice exercise area and lounge, and the staff was very friendly. Only parking option is valet ($20), so be prepared to pay or park at your own risk a block or two away. Overall, a very nice hotel.
