We just stayed Saturday night, so I wanted to write this while it's still fresh in my mind. We have stayed at several bed and breakfasts, and Greenleaf House is one of the best! The furniture and rooms were beautiful (in fact, my husband wanted to take a little mouse lamp home as a souvenier), the game room and family room were comfy and full of interesting books and magazines, and Rick and his wife were very pleasant and welcoming. It was a full house the night we stayed and we never heard anyone else. The first we knew of others staying there was in the morning at breakfast. Can't beat the location, convenience, and "homey" feel of Greenleaf House. We will definitely be back.

If you admire the Arts and Crafts movement and style of Frank Lloyd Wright, you'll want to stay at this B&B which was established in 2005 in a thoroughly renovated 1890s home east of Downtown Columbus. It was the perfect place for our getaway weekend as we enjoyed the annual Columbus Arts Fest June 2-4. We were also able to walk to Franklin Park Conservatory just a few blocks away.

The handsome bedrooms, all with private baths, on the second and third floors are distinctly fashioned. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the suite named for Dard Hunter, a designer during the Arts & Crafts period who hailed from Chillicothe, Ohio. The main room has a exceptionally comfortable queen size bed; we utilized the adjoining space with a club chair and desk (as well as a twin daybed and twin trundle) for reading and relaxing. The bathroom is off the main room and has a pedestal tub and shower combination.

Breakfasts are memorable! Owner Rick Smiley was a cook in the Navy and continues as a skilled and inventive chef delighting us with scones, unique omelets, even a Bosc pear baked in a berries and wine sauce. He's so personable and glad to tell guests about how he and his wife (who live a couple blocks away) fixed up the house.

Other pluses include a guest refrigerator with complimentary bottled water and soda, oatmeal soap, hairdryers and alarm clocks and cable TV/DVD ("hidden" in an attractive chest in each bedroom and also availble in a big-screen mode in a common room on the first floor).
