“medicocre and surprisingly bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Took a job candidate here last night--it has been a great meal. This time, not so much. Horrid service (including a bus boy who pushed over a member of our party), the waitress delivered the wrong food and then told us that WE made a mistake. Had regular Gnocchi, when nearly everyone in our part ordered the special Gnocchi. The regular Gnocchi tasted like it was out of a can. We joked that it was about as good as Chef-Boy-ardi, sorry to say that. I doubt we'll go back. Expensive food, poorly made and poorly served is NOT a way to win a candidate!

“Nice anniversary dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We visited last week for our wedding anniversary. The reservations people were great when we had to change our arrival time slightly. We chose the calamari appetizer, which came with a delicious dipping sauce. My husband had the seafood stew, which was substantial and filling; I had the butternut squash ravioli, which was an unusual combination of favors and textures. we both enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. The only negative aspect to the evening was the busboy who reached across us to fill glasses and grunted when we thanked him. The other waitstaff were well trained and unobtrusive.

“Nice restaurant near the Convention Center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

The food we ordered was very good. Appetizers were a bit fancy for my taste. The atmosphere was nice and the service we had from the wait staff was great. It is located within a revitalized, hip downtown area and within walking distance of convention center hotels. The only thing about the area that is a negative (and has nothing to do with the restaurant itself) are the panhandlers circulating the area at night.

“Great food, helpful wait staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Loved the menu of Italian dishes with a few specials for variety. The wait staff was very knowledgeable in describing the dishes and even gave a terrific recommendation to my wife. The ambiance is warm and cozy and not too noisy, even on a busy Saturday night.

“Dreadful experience. Stay away and support better restaurants.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Awful experience.
The "steak for two" which was highly touted by the waiter was actually poor grade steak. The waiter massacred the steak in serving it (try slicing it in strips next time).
The mashed potatoes were like pudding.
They went very cheap on the greens, which were a small handful of arugula.
Waiter was snippy when I ordered an interesting Sicilian cabernet sauvignon (not expensive enough for his taste.
Worst of all was the pathetic owner of the establishment who was very rude to our the woman in our other dining couple. Her sister had given her a gift card for Rigsby's, and had accidentally pressed the payment key twice, so my friend ended up with two $150 gift cards. She had spoken to the manager(s) several times before our trip to the restaurant and was assured that it was no problem to reimburse the extra card. Well, it was a major problem for the owner.
Our friend, unlike myself, had really enjoyed her meal until this unfortunate encounter with the owner.
Also, the place is too damn loud.
We'll never return.
From speaking with other friends it emerges that Rigsby's halcyon days are a relic of the distant past.
Don't support their snippy attitudes and ordinary food for the price.
