Wonderful location, easy access to all the popular districts of Columbus, operated by amazing people of exceptional integrity and attention to detail. I will never be within 2 hours of Columbus and not stay here. The daily fresh baked cookies and brownies in no way influenced my review.

I'll start off by saying that I am not going to be able to write enough good things about this place.

A group of our friends rented out the entire house for the weekend while we were down in Columbus for a motorcycle event. We arrived late Thursday evening and were greeted warmly by Linda and Ron. The entire house was stunning and beautifully decorated; it was very warm and inviting. The breakfasts were great (we found it hard to adjust when coming home!) and there were also choices for our vegetarian friends, which is always appreciated. They baked us cookies and brownies and they were waiting when we arrived back from the hot track - they were always gone within 5 minutes! The rooms were comfortable and accommodating. We chose the Benton room and it was fantastic; we also had our own private bathroom (that was shared with the rest of the house during day hours as it is on the main floor) but it was very convenient. We also did not hear any of our "roommates" above us which was nice. We had beautiful weather which made drinking coffee on the porch in the mornings ideal. I would and will recommend this BnB to everyone I know. As this was my first BnB experience, they have set the bar extremely high. I have no doubt that we will all return!

Room Tip: The Benton is great if you like a cooler sleeping space. It is on the north side of the house and al...

Amanda, thank you for your gracious review. We thoroughly enjoyed having your group here--it is always such a good time when the whole house is occupied with friends or family!

We do want to clarify one point for guests interested in booking the Benton room. The Benton has exclusive use of the first-floor bathroom unless the entire house is booked by one group--and then it is only shared if the Benton guests open it to the others by opening the divider to that end of the house.

We're so glad that your first stay at a B&B was a good experience and can't wait to have you back for next year's race! And thank you for the beautiful collage of photos you shared here on TripAdvisor!

A party of five of us stayed in Columbus, OH, over a Friday through Sunday at Hawthorne Park Bed & Breakfast. It is an older, large home that has been completely renovated inside and turned into a bed & breakfast. There are 4 rooms available, one on the main level, and three others on a second level. Our party occupied two rooms on the second level for our stay.

The house is beautifully refinished in a classic way that preserves the original character of the home. It is on a quiet street. It is only a few blocks away from Franklin Park Conservatory, and about 12 to 15 minutes away from Ohio State University and downtown Columbus. The location is very convenient for events at any of those locations.

The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast prepared for the guests each morning was also excellent, usually consisting of a choice of an egg-based selection (e.g. quiche) or pancakes, French toast, or something like that.

It is a really good value. If you compare the rates to stay at Hawthorne Park with a nice breakfast included to a conventional hotel, especially one this close to downtown, Hawthorne Park really looks like a bargain. We really enjoyed it and intend to be back.

My fiance and I stayed here for two nights over Valentine's Day weekend. This was our first B&B experience, and Hawthorne Park exceeded every expectation! Upon arrival, the caretakers greeted us with homemade brownies and water before letting us get settled into our room.

We stayed on the first floor, which gave us access to our own bathroom. This B&B does an incredible job of blending in modern conveniences like tv's and wifi without detracting from the historic vibe of the home itself. There is a sitting room and a piano, along with a dining room where most of the guests eat breakfast.

In the morning, we were gently awoken to the smell of breakfast, having been given the choice of what to eat the night before. The caretakers found the perfect balance of engaging and entertaining us without going so far as to be intrusive. They were there when we needed / wanted them to be around, and they were always eager to help in any way necessary.

With the amount of effort that is going into the experience at Hawthorne Park, you won't find a better value anywhere in central Ohio. We will definitely be returning in the near future!

Room Tip: Some guest rooms share a hallway bathroom.

My husband and I stayed here while we were going house hunting in the area. We couldn´t have made a better choice. The house was spotless clean, nicely decorated and I will always remember the wonderful breakfast. Ron and Linda are very professional, hospitable and friendly. This is definitely a place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms have a different look but they are all comfortable. Some share bathrooms.

We spent three nights here last weekend. The house is beautifully restored and a calm, pleasant environment. Ron and Linda are welcoming and obliging hosts. We had a nine hour delay on our flight out of New York and Ron was gracious when we arrived at 1.30 in the morning, exhausted. He even drove us to the airport the following morning to collect our rental car which we were too tired to drive the night before. The bed was very comfortable (although a warmer blanket/duvet would have been appreciated during the cool weather).

So it may seem strange only to give an average rating after all I've said. We had the O'Hara room which has an en suite and a little sitting area. It is directly over the kitchen where work begins as early as half five in the morning. Each day we were wide awake by half six with the smell of garlic and bacon cooking, noise, music and chatter. Although breakfast is advertised as starting at half seven we had to wait until half 8 on the two mornings we were up so early. The food was limited; some of it was lovely and some not much (we would have appreciated eggs being on offer). There was also disturbing noise all through the second night (like a loud, rumbling fan) which we dealt with by using ear plugs. On the final night it was so loud that we had to ask for help in identifying it and turning it off which was done with good grace by the hosts' son-in-law.

There was no service in the room for the whole period of stay and we have never experienced that and that's why we give a lower rating for cleanliness. Very few people seemed to spending more than a night or two. The house was immaculate.

The house is handy for the airport but is slightly the wrong side of town and many of the surrounding streets are lined with boarded up, empty properties, although the actual road is a mix of restored and not restored houses.

So, I think the airport proximity, interior design, very friendly welcome and wifi outweigh the problems we had, and others may have had different experiences in different rooms/on different nights. We would recommend it overall.

Room Tip: Maybe a room away from the kitchen.

We sincerely apologize for your less than perfect stay with us and have taken action to assure that the issues have been corrected. Providing our guests with the best possible hospitality and service has always been our mission.

Upon reviewing the situation, we see that, unfortunately, some of the inconveniences you experienced were a matter of odd circumstances (a fan on the floor in the room above yours that we were not aware of); misunderstanding (breakfast is served daily at 8:30); miscommunication (housekeeping information such as how to use the electric heater, extra blankets, room service, etc., and an assurance that you can call our cell phone if you need anything at all were not reviewed due to your 1:30 a.m. arrival). We then, apparently, failed to go over some of those details with you the next day. We apologize.

Nonetheless, we thank you for your review and for recommending Hawthorne Park B&B. Should you ever return to Columbus, we hope that you will give us another chance at providing you with a peaceful and comfortable stay at our B&B on beautiful Hawthorne Park. It was our pleasure to have met you and we wish you both the very best!

I love staying at the Hawthorne House when I'm in Columbus for work or with my husband visiting our daughter at OSU. The house is beautiful, great beds and food, and Ron and Linda are welcoming. This B & B is a beautiful Victorian oasis within the city.
