“Nice New Hotel with a Great Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Stayed with my wife for an unexpected trip to Columbus Ohio over Valentines Day. Hotel is very nice and clean. It just opened in Oct. 2012. The rooms area little small, but we were very busy and not in the room much. We had lunch at the restaurant and i was very good. If I am ever in Columbus again, I would eat here. We did not have a car, but were able to walk to many of the attractions and restaurants on High street.

Room Tip: If you will be here for a few days, include the breakfast and ask for a two room suite.

Brand new facility, wonderfully decorated, great service. As is always true in such hotels, it was not a bargain but provided an experience of luxury and comfort. Staff was universally friendly and courteous.

I recently stayed at this Hotel for a Conference in February. When I first arrived I was warmly greeted by all staff and throughout my stay received the same treatment. I originally had booked a parlor bed room via online, which at the time I did not know this was a pullout bed only. The frontdesk at check in noticed this and immediately offered to find me a room with a regular bed, which she did. I was also in need of some change made from a $20 and again the frontdesk staff went out of their way to get me some (they did not have cash at their desk and the gift shop also did not have any). The room was very comfortable, clean, and I really like the bathroom design. It is roomy and modern. The convention center is easily accessed via a covered walkway over the street.

Room Tip: The parlor bedroom is a pullout out bed only.

What a facility! Great location. Front desk check-in was marginal and staff was less than bubbly. Couldn't/wouldn't use my Ipad in my room because of the expense. Happy hour drink prices were high, but regular drink prices were astronomical. Caused me do walk down the street for dinner. Room was next to the train corridor, but really didn't notice when trains moved through.

Thank you for the note. When designing the building, sound engineers study the nearby tracks and specified special sound-insulating glass; glad it was effective!

Overall the design and cleaniness of the hotel is very nice. Rooms are spacious (2 queen beds and window bench that can serve as an extra sleeping bed) and very quiet (over the bar and did not hear any noises).

However, a few improvements are needed: 1.) prices of drinks at breakfast 2.) wireless policies and 3.) hot tub.

Price of drinks are breakfast are way too expensive with a glass of apple juice at $6.00 and coffee at $4.00. The bar was serving free coffee, but 500 feet away in the resturant I had to pay $4.00. My daughters had apple juice with their kids breakfast. The kid breakfast (waffle) was $6.00 which did not include a drink and the cup of apple juice was another 6.00. BTW - a 16 oz of beer or bottle of beer is 6.00. Seems strange that a glass of juice which is 1/2 the size is the same price.

Wireless internet - it is free on the 1st two floors, but cost per device in your rooms. When you have a family that in today tech ago brings smart phones, tablets and laptop - there is no way I would pay $10.00 per day/per device for internet in our rooms. My daughter had homework which she had to do this in the lobby in order to complete the required research. In talking to hilton corporate - this type of policy is hotel specific and not a hilton policy.

Hot Tub (beware) - with this hotel less then 6 months old, I was surprised when my daughter came home with rashes after being in the hot tub (our last night). I also heard a handful of other kids that were in the hotel on the same night - also had rashes and spots which required medication. I have reported this case to Hilton head office so they can ensure it is addressed.

Overall (9.8 out of 15)
Looks of the hotel (5/5),
Service (2.8 out of 5)
Product (2 out of 5)

Service:
Sometime too much service (felt very rushed at check in on Friday night and lots of staff wanting to help get us in our room) while other times slow (not enough staff at the bar on Sunday evening). Front desk (1 out of 5), hotel guest services (4 out of 5), bar (3 out of 5), resturant (4 out of 5)

Product:
Internet (2 out of 5), food and beverage prices (2 out of 5) and fitness room/pool

Thank you for the very constructive feedback. I thought you had erred on the price of juice and discovered you had not! You are absolutely correct and no one had spotted that to date. We have changed the price of juice in our system immediately and the menu will be corrected on the next re-print. I sincerely appreciate you pointing that out and will be glad to correct that on your invoice and will send you a private note. Wifi is free in public areas including the Hilton Connectivity Station that includes four terminals and printing at no charge. As in all Hilton hotels worldwide, there is a charge for the convenience of in-room access though it is per room, not per device. We have tried to make that clear in the printed material and the front desk has to do the correction at the desk due to limitations of the system. All of our maintenance teams are certified pool operators which exceeds any requirements and the water is tested on an hourly basis. Though we use a salt-water chlorination system to reduce the use of chemicals, sometimes the high temperature in combination with the chemicals can be harsh on sensitive skin, particularly during peak usage such as during a cheerleading or volleyball tournament when the system is pushed to the max. Please do not hesitate to speak to a hotel manager at any time should you ever have any future concerns so that they may be addressed immediately. Again, thank you for sharing your feedback particularly the juice.

The Columbus Hilton Is less than a year old, I stayed one night for business in February. The hotel has most the amenities of a new hotel, and the lobby bar area has some nice design and is comfortable. Some “green” features (lights in bath go off on motion detector) and electronic proximity keys, etc
The rooms are clean, newer, new linens and comfortable beds. Quiet (at least when I was there) and a good place for business or convention attendance., I had breakfast one morning and it was generally better than most hotel restaurants. The bar and lobby area and comfortable and again new. Staff was very good. Overall, above average for urban Hiltons.
Two small drawbacks, the fitness room was not as nice as I would expect for a new hotel, and the self parking was not well planned (walk in the rain, take an elevator to the lobby) – it is a small thing but with planning it should not happen.
Finally, the hotel is right on High street, walk able to the convention center and restaurants and bars on short north. The walk to arena district is too far if weather is bad however, and you cannot walk to OSU sports venues from here – make sure you know this if you are going to stay here.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately, the limited urban space did not allow for our own garage and we utilize the adjacent parking structure under separate management that does require the access you site though valet is certainly a much more convenient option. Our fitness facility does feature the latest in equipment complete with individual TV’s; we do have relationships to full fledged health clubs nearby at a discounted day-pass should you require a more extensive facility. You are correct that OSU is about four miles away and there are excellent hotels in that area if that is the purpose of the visit, though the Arena District is immediately adjacent to the hotel.

In town for a conference; what a beautiful, clean, bright facility. The staff was very cordial and the rooms are absolutely supreme! The location in the downtown of Columbus was perfect. We had dinner reservations at a very nice restaurant which was within walking distance and enjoyed the nightlife of Columbus. The hotel is new and we found it to be quite spectacular. Quiet rooms, tiled & glassed-in shower, very comfy bed and well-lit bath were a few touches that made this stay most accomodating.
