“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

I was in Columbus for a meeting at OSU. I have been here 2 times previously (3 total), and each visit has been consistently terrific. Friendly, courteous and knowledgable staff. Beautiful and well maintained facility. Comfortable and clean rooms, well-equipped for business visitors as well as casual guests. Highly recommended. It is located right next to the OSU football stadium, so very convenient to anything at OSU.

This is the best place to stay when visiting Ohio State if you can get a room. The beds and pillows are comfortable and the people are very friendly. There is always Ohio State merchandise on sale as well. Price was decent

The service and staff were wonderful and very helpful. The free shuttle service was very nice and the driver was very friendly, informative, and timely. The location was great to get around OSU. The rooms were clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable.

We arrived in Columbus after a long and trying day in transit. I'd read the reviews and expected something nice, but the Blackwell surpassed all my expectations. The hotel room was beautiful, with two work spaces - important as this was a work trip.

Both room and bathroom were spotless. Good facilities and an excellent selection of guest toiletries, tea, hot chocolate and coffee. Staff were pleasant and helpful, the hotel was quiet and the bed extremely comfortable.

The location was also very convenient - just next to the Columbus uni and close to lots of restaurants and other facilities within walking distance. The bistro was good with nice staff and a good selection of dishes and complimentary wines. A very pleasant experience.

If I ever return to Columbus, I will definitely aim to stay at the Blackwell again.

It was our first visit to the Blackwell at The Ohio State University. We were there for the College of Engineering Awards program and the OSU-Nebraska homecoming game. The buckeye football players were staying there on Friday evening before their game with the Huskers and it was exciting to pass the players in the looby and hallways. Our ten year old son was in shock to be so close to the players and to be able to converse with them. Now onto the accomodations. The main lobby is too small and is a main failure in the overall design. The decorum is conservative and uninspiring. Overall, the rooms, lobby and amenity spaces are "frumpy" and deserve a modern hip appearance. We were expecting more in terms of design especially since it is located adjacent to the Knowlton School of Architecture which is a great building full of inspiration. The hotel only recives a very good rating because of its location and proximity to the campus and sporting venues. You are minutes from Ohio Stadium, the Oval and the Schottenstein Center. The hotel is very lively during football weekends and I would recommend it for those special events. No spa or swimming pool but the exercise room is decent.

We stayed here on the Friday/Saturday of the Buckeye's football home opener against Miami of Ohio. This is an impossible reservation to get but we were lucky that a season ticket holder could not go to this game and he transferred his reservation to us.

It was $300/night by the time we had taxes and valet parking ($15/night) were added. The location is what makes it worth this price. Perfect for game day. The team stays here the Friday before the game so you may run into Urban or one of the players. It is THE place to be during home football games.

They have a bar set up outside the elevators on game day - beer and donuts! Too funny. Nice attention to detail as you can see in my photos. Clean and well appointed. It would be a deal at $159 w/breakfast as some on here have gotten. You get gouged during football season but it was so nice to be able to walk to the Shoe and to the Skull Session and to go shopping at the team stores w/o worrying about driving, parking and dodging co-eds!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Shoe.

I had a great stay at the Blackwell. Wonderful hotel and conveniently located. It certainly was a bit pricey, but with the offered airport shuttle and town car service included in the stay, it was well worth it! Would definitely stay here again.
