Saw the Explorers Club pop up on a Groupon and though I didn't know exactly where it was located, with a little internet magic, I discovered it was south of German village on High. Seemed pretty easy to get to, offered me the opportunity to make a reservation on Open Table, so within minutes I have a brunch date set to meet my daughter's new boyfriend.
Not having been in Merion Village, at first I wasn't too impressed parking in front of what looked like boarded up abandoned homes, but within a half-block was the Explorers Club and its beautiful facade sparkling in an otherwise bland neighborhood. Granted, this is another part of Columbus in transition for those who remember what the Short North was like in the 80's!
I thought we were meeting for lunch, but it was Saturday morning brunch at 12:30. Regardless, there were some delicious breakfast offerings with a lot of South-American influence. Let's just say the portions were very generous and the flavor was warm without being overspiced.
The only downfall was my fault for not reading the fine print on the Groupon that it excluded brunch, so I couldn't use it. However, we will come back some evening for the true entree's which we were hoping to delve into.
